Village Square Leisure Facility
There are various types of leisure activities, of which I'm going to deliberate on the relaxation aspect of mental activity. Do you need a place where you can free your mind and worry less? village square got you covered. This village square shares boundaries with one of the 4.5-star hotels in my city. Like, everything about this place is iconic. Let me expatiate.
Where is it located, and how do I get here?. |
---|
This place is located in Uyo Metropolis, opposite the big Ibom Hall, where most carol night events are held. I may describe it as the second heart of my city, Uyo. You can access this place in various ways if you're just coming to Uyo, the capital city, or you're already in Uyo. We have over 5 routes to get to this place from wherever you're coming from in Uyo. These routes are
Udoudoma Avenue
Nung Oku Junction
Nsikak Eduok Avenue
Aka Road
Plaza
IBB
Atiku etc....

These are routes you can take to get to the place, irrespective of where you reside. This is a Google Maps description of the place. But wait, Village Square isn't publicly seen in this location I just described. It's the Watbridge Hotel; you'll see it. So where is this relaxation centre called Village Square? It shares boundaries with the hotel and can be found inside the hotel.
So when coming to this place, your aim is to enter the Watbridge Hotel from the gate. From the gate, take your left to the poolside and then take your left after the poolside. You'll definitely see this place, free from noise and distractions of any sort. Like, you get it... That's how you can get to the place. The name is printed in front to help you identify.
A brief history of the place, the founder, the established period, and any communication medium.. |
---|
*Village square was founded in the year December, 2018, when Watbridge, as a private-sector hotel was founded to. As it's a partnership form, village square relies on the hotel for light and other facilities. Watbridge hotel on which village square is attaching itself to, is actually one of the best hotels in Uyo Metropolis and labedlled as a 4.5-star hotel. They celebrated their anniversary a year after their active status in Uyo.
The famous Ngugi wa Thiong'o was named after its guest library, which runs for 24 hours round the clock. Notable dignitaries were a big part of this hotel's establishment and growth. These dignitaries include ex-governor Victor Attah, Nelson Mandela and Obafemi Awolowo**.
It is also a hotel for honouring and preserving cultural heritage, as was seen during events organised by the Uyo Book Club. Its founder is none other than Akpan Udo Sampson, who happens to be the managing director of the place, with an assistant director and major shareholders. Since its establishment to date is roughly 6 years. 6 years of existence in such a spacious place is worth it.

Provide clear details about their activities.. |

The village square at the Watbridge Hotel offers a lot of services, which I'm going to state. These activities include mental activities, yoga, swimming exercises, food and drink services, entertainment, etc. Have you ever thought of dance as a leisure activity? It's being offered in this village square. The place is more about enjoyment, leisure, and taking time off from work or being far away from home. You get to experience a new life here.
Food and drink services: Village Square offers local food which most people who come from different states and within mine want to try. You know what is said about general meals like omelette, yam and egg sauce and other related dishes? The people call it white food. So Village Square will take you back to your village root and bring to mind those foods you would definitely eat if you were in your village. These include
Isi ewu
Nkwobi
Ekpang Nkukwo
Afang soup
Plantain porridge with snails and periwinkle
White soup, etc....

Even though it's an expensive hotel, this place makes you feel at home and comfortable, and it's part of what people do in their leisure. I can't wait to have a 24-hour food quest in this place as my leisure. Local drinks like fresh palm wine and other hot drinks are served here. These are their prices.
Isi Ewu | 13,000 naira | 66.3 |

Ekpang Nkukwo | 3000 | 15.3 |
Palm wine per bottle | 1000 | 5.1 |

- Swimming services: Outside their interior is a pool of water and some beach chairs where people can relax with what they bought from this village square. Eating close to a waterside is a healing to one's mind and soul. People can also use their pool to whittle away time. This is another leisure activity that helps you free your mind from stress and problems of any sort. Their swimming services cost
3000 naira | 15.3 |

Entertainment services in the music and dance field: They have stereo speakers and a television that gives one visual and audio interpretation. They have songs for every weather and condition. When I visited this place, it was raining. The songs they play fit the weather and could pierce into one's mind and soul. Theatre is one of a few services offered here.

What are the facilities like? Seating arrangements, cleanliness, playground, etc.. |
---|
There are no playgrounds here, but we got a lot of facilities. We have the aisle for what they call **'cherished moments with culture'. When you walk through that aisle as shown below, you'll be carried away if you pay particular attention to the cultural display and statues on the wall. From what they told me, they said most people come out of the aisle crying. This is to show that there are a lot of sensations here.

Facilities like their counter where food and drinks are served on takeaway levels are a part of this place. These are just the two prominent facilities in this place. We have seating areas arranged in series of 4 with a table at their centre. Most of the chairs here are made of rafter to represent that this place is really a place for cultural remembrance, leisure and reflection.
The serenity of the place is 100%, and the cleanliness too speaks a lot about how people are served and taken care of here. The workers value hygiene as though it's their personal life.
Provide details about the environment there. Natural, Indoor, Electric, Other…. |
---|
The environment is not as natural as that of Ibom icon, as it's by the roadside, but the interior part of this village square has a lot of energy that can revive. It's just situated in a place free from noise, air pollution and the like. We have air conditioners in other seating areas where this relaxation is carried out in cases of lack of space. **The seating spaces aren't in the comfort of the village square hut. They are seen in its exterior. **
In the aspect of electricity, light is 24/7, and the lighting of the place makes it even more local and serene. The light gives you that solo energy you need to function, and there are ventilators in cases of fans that can blow your brains out. These fans are situated in every corner of the place in times when the temperature tends to be extreme.

Share your feelings in your review so that people can be inspired to travel there. |

Though I didn't have the opportunity to taste their dishes here, I want to tell you that it's not all hotels that go white with their meals. We have some hotels with hidden chambers that can make you feel like an indigen, like the man you are.The village square at the Ibom Icon Hotel, which is a separate place from the hotel, has got you. You get to witness the Aisle for cherished moments with culture. You also get to relax in the most convenient atmosphere, free from stress, anxiety and the like.

These are pictures of me relaxing in village square
The ambience of the place alone is enough to heal you. Just take a walk down to a place you can call your roots and enjoy the synergy of being in an expensive village with cherished food and relaxation moments. You can virtually just go there and sleep if that's what would make you relaxed. Their chairs are bendable. The picture below shows what it feels like to be here. I was carried away by their music, and it was a rainy day. Damn...Give yourself a treat here.
