Today is a special day for the people of my village. As in previous years, we held a traditional kenduri before going down to the rice fields, a tradition passed down from generation to generation that is full of meaning and togetherness. This feast is not only a form of gratitude to Allah SWT for the good fortune that has been given, but also as a form of hope that this planting season will bring abundant and full of blessings.

In the morning, the village atmosphere already felt different. The residents, both men and women, worked together to prepare everything needed for the event. Several people were busy in the kitchen cooking goat curry sauce which was the main menu. The aroma of spices and meat being cooked slowly permeated the air, tempting anyone who passed by. Meanwhile, another group cooked large amounts of white rice and arranged a place to eat on a long mat that was spread out near the rice field.

After everything was ready, the residents began to gather. Old, young and even children came in neat clothes. The event began with a joint prayer led by a local religious figure. Prayers were chanted solemnly, asking for protection and blessings so that the process of planting until the harvest would run smoothly. There was a strong sense of emotion and hope when the prayers were said with the backdrop of a stretch of rice fields ready to be worked.

After the prayer was finished, we ate together in that place. Sitting side by side on the mat, providing rice and curry sauce with warmth and light laughter. It was not only delicious because of the delicious food, but also because of the thick atmosphere of togetherness.

This Kenduri reminds me of how important the values of mutual cooperation and tradition are in village life. In the midst of the development of the times, togetherness like this is a cultural wealth that must continue to be maintained. Today I went home with a full stomach and a warm heart, grateful to be a part of the ancestral tradition that soothes the soul.
