Diary Game - 21/09/2025 - Grape Festival - Soave - Italy
Hello friends, how are you? I hope everything is going well. I wanted to share with you yesterday's diary entry, which I spent in Soave, a village I've mentioned several times, practically where I was born. Yesterday was the grape festival, a peasant festival that takes place every third Sunday in September, something truly important for this small town.
As every year, there were so many people there, some from quite far away and even from abroad. On the Sunday I went, there was basically a small parade of floats that are somewhat reminiscent of the old grape festival that used to be held many years ago, with parades of people on carts and tractors. Now they even play a little music during this festival.
But as we all know, the beauty of these holidays is that you can also sample some of the local cuisine. In fact, I had a delicious lunch break eating a grilled polenta accompanied by French fries. Unfortunately, the prices aren't what they used to be because inflation is still felt even during these village festivals.
Let's say that every year it's always a bit like the same celebration, but it's nice that traditions are maintained over time and into the future. So I spent the rest of the day just walking around the town seeing every place and everything they did and I have to say it was very interesting even if it was quite hot for September.
The grape festival, as I was telling you, has historical roots linked to the grape harvest, which is one of the most important moments for the community of the country precisely because it valorises the work of these winemakers and you can also do wine tastings, which is naturally the final product of these excellent grapes.
Thank you for reading my diary, see you on my next adventure soon
