Week#01 Winners & Africa Takes Over the Map Contest — Steem Atlas Pin & Win Week#02

Created by @kouba01 using Canva
Hello steemians,
As the Steem Atlas Ambassador for Africa, I’m kicking off Week #2 of our weekly challenge to map the Africa we actually live in — our markets & cafés, beaches & hikes, workshops, murals, festivals, campuses, street food corners, and the everyday places that make our cities and villages special.
Every valid post adds a precise pin to the map and helps travelers, students, entrepreneurs, and locals find verified, useful info: how to get there, what it costs, when to go, and how to stay safe.
This isn’t a simple photo drop. Together we’re building a useful, verified layer of African knowledge on the blockchain using your words, your images, your coordinates. To reward your effort, there’s a weekly prize pool of 50 STEEM (25 / 15 / 10). Add a short original video or discover new spots for bonus points.
If it’s your first time, I’ll help you pin accurately and structure your review. Tag @kouba01 for a quick pin check or draft feedback.

Contest Overview (clear & skimmable)
What is Steem Atlas?
An interactive world map powered by the Steem blockchain. Each post is geolocated and appears exactly where the place is.
Who can join?
Anyone posting African places, from big landmarks to everyday local spots. Newcomers welcome.
When does it run?
Weekly, from Wednesday 00:00 UTC to Tuesday 23:59 UTC
(≈ 01:00–00:59 Africa/Tunis, UTC+1)
- Week #2 window: Wed, Oct 1, 2025 00:00 UTC → Tue, Oct 7, 2025 23:59 UTC
(≈ Oct 1, 01:00 → Oct 8, 00:59 Africa/Tunis)
Prizes (every week)
- 🥇 1st: 25 STEEM
- 🥈 2nd: 15 STEEM
- 🥉 3rd: 10 STEEM
Two Ways to Publish a Steem Atlas Post
1) Directly on Steem Atlas (“Create Post”)
- Open https://steematlas.com/ → Create Post.
Place the pin:
- Click on the map (zoom in to the exact spot, then click), or
- Use current location if you’re physically on site.
- Pin description: enter place name + city only (e.g., “Olympic Stadium, Rades”).
Write your post: title, body, images, links, and tags (e.g.,
steem-atlas
,atlasafrica
, country tag).Rewards & beneficiaries: choose your reward option, add @steem-atlas as a beneficiary (5–10% recommended).
Publish using your posting key.
2) Via Steemit.com (“Embed Pin”)
Write your article on steemit.com as usual.
In another tab, open https://steematlas.com/ → Embed Pin.
Place the pin (map or current location), then name the pin (place + city).
Copy the generated pin code from Steem Atlas.
Paste that code into your Steemit post (ideally at the end for easy verification).
Do not change the code (especially latitude/longitude) or the pin will be misplaced.
Publish in the Steem community of your choice, your post will appear in the right spot on the Atlas.

How are winners chosen?
- Ranking = number of qualified posts you publish that week
- Ties → higher average score, then diversity (different cities/countries), then video bonus
A “qualified” post includes:
- ≥ 400 words + 4–10 original photos with captions
- Exact, verifiable pin (cross-check Atlas coords vs Google Maps)
- Useful info: how to get there, budget/prices, opening hours, best time, safety, contacts
- Clear structure (title, sections, 1 local tip in the conclusion)
- Correct tags:
#atlasafrica
#steem-atlas
#country
(e.g.#tunisia
,#senegal
,#ghana
) + city/type if helpful - Recommended: add @steem-atlas as beneficiary (5–10%)
- No AI/plagiarism/stock media
