The Diary Game [11/10/2025] // Pre-Elections Day Preparations

in Steem Cameroon3 days ago

Hi everyone, I'd like to extend Steem greetings from the motherland of Cameroon and welcome you to my blog, where I share my lifestyle content.

The air feels heavier today, not just with the heat, but with the weight of anticipation. Tomorrow is the big day with the presidential elections. Cameroonians hold their breath, and so do I. But life does not just pause, even when history knocks at the door. We went about the day like any other, but there was a quiet tension underneath it all.

Despite waking up tired from yesterday’s barbecue and dancing, there was no time to rest. My legs still feel sore from all the movements I made. We danced as if we had no worries, as if the future was already bright. But this morning brought back the familiar pull of responsibility. Chores waited, the house needed tidying, and our food supply had to be replenished.

Going to the local market to buy foodstuffs.

I headed to the market early, and the crowd was more than usual. Everyone’s stocking up, unsure of what the coming days might hold. There is this collective feeling of hope mixed with uncertainty. Tomatoes, plantains, onions, and palm oil, prices have already started skyrocketing. Still, I managed to get everything we needed, pushing through the bustle with tired smiles and cautious eyes.

Back home, I got to cooking and I made eru and fufu for lunch. The aroma filled the house and gave it warmth, like a reminder that no matter what is happening outside, we can always find comfort inside especially around a good meal. The eru simmered just right, and the fufu was soft and stretchy, the way I like it. It did not take away the exhaustion, but it made it all feel worth it.

Later in the afternoon, I prepared huckleberry, boiled and seasoned just enough and packed it away in the fridge for tomorrow. With all the movement expected around the elections, it is better to have food ready. You never know how things might unfold.

Evening came with a sense of calm and I sat outside, watching the sky change colours, the kind of sunset that makes you stop for a second. I ended the day with a piece of paw-paw I harvested from the backyard. Sweet and refreshing and it tasted like something earned. There is something peaceful about eating from your own garden, like the earth itself is hugging you.

In the evening hours, the streets were quieter than usual. Everyone was retreating, preparing in their own way. There are whispers of possible unrest, but also louder prayers for peace because we have seen enough and waited long enough for change. What we want is safety, fairness, and progress.

I went to bed carrying hope, even if it is fragile and prayed that tomorrow brings clarity and not chaos and may our votes count. Until my next diary guys, I wish us all a splendid weekend.

Your post paints a vivid picture of the quiet tension and enduring spirit in the days leading up to the election. It’s so relatable how life's essential, the market trip, the cooking persist, despite the historic weight of the moment.
Your meal of eru and fufu sounds absolutely comforting, a true anchor of warmth amid the uncertainty. It's smart to prepare food for tomorrow The image of the peaceful sunset and the sweet, earned taste of the paw-paw from your own yard offers a beautiful sense of groundedness. Thank you for sharing your hopes for clarity, fairness, and peace

It's true that life's little rituals keep us steady when the world feels uncertain.
Eru and fufu did bring comfort, and that paw-paw was a sweet reward. Thank you for the wonderful words.

You're welcome my dear sister
