National Day Awareness: Happy Teachers Day (5/10/2025)

Greetings, dearest members of Steem Cameroon, and happy Sunday to you all. It's teacher's day which happens once a year and I can't let this day pass by without celebrating myself and others teachers. Teachers day is celebrated on the 5th of October every year.

A teacher is a person who educates, teachers, instructs, guides, informs, mentors, directs in the right way and disciplines a child when needed. While some are teachers by profession, others found themselves in that position due to one thing or the other, but whichever way it is, teachers are invaluable in every societies. Though I didn't study education, but when I went for the compulsory national youth service, u taught and when I came back, I dived into the teaching profession to survive but along the way, I fell in love with it and I have been in the profession till date. I have taught for so many years now and I have seen my students move on to study professional courses in the university, few even graduating. It's been a very long journey but it's been worth it.

Yes, if I had a choice, I would still want to practice this profession because I have passion for it. I love the fact that It makes me read more than I should, it helps me think fast and keeps me prepared at all times. I'm always current about issues going on. If one isn't prepared in this profession before going into class, one might get embarrassed if students ask questions and one is unable to answer it.

Embarking on an excursion

In life, there is always something one doesn't like or might not be able to change for a while. Yes, I have some regret sha. One is the fact that teachers are overworked and underpaid. It's really a sad situation as passion isn't enough to pay bills. Teachers are also looked down on despite the fact that people in every other professions passed through teachers. I really wish the society would treat teachers better and understand that they are invaluable. My happiest moments in this profession are tines I get to spend with my students. I get very happy when a child that was slow get to become better, when we spend time together in school and I forget I'm a teacher, rather we relate like friends tho there is always a line drawn so the child doesn't eve up crossing boundaries. I get very happy when I see a child I taught grow to a level and even become better than me. Currently, there is a student I taught who is in level 400 in the university studying law, she even organizes master class for aspiring writers. The greatest moment is seeing that a child you taught is successful, or even being called or greeted ob the road and the child tells you that you taught him or her years ago.

Exams time

I would like to become a better teacher than I am. I am planning to go for further training someday to the extent that I don't just teach in the class but even online teaching and not just nationally, but also internationally. I want to be a teacher that would be able to bring out the best in a child, not just academically, but character wise, I want to see the children I taught tomorrow and I'm very proud of them because they will shape the future of tomorrow and will also teach my children or mentor my children. I love being a teacher and I hope to be a better teacher. Thank you for reading through. Happy Teachers day.
