The Diary Game: 05/07/2025🧼✨ How My Saturday Beans Turned Into a Lesson on Cholesterol Awareness
Good Evening, Lovelies! 💛
I just wanted to share how my day went today — it’s been a productive and insightful Saturday!
As a member of the Sanitation Department in my church, Saturdays are our clean-up days. I spent a little over an hour at church this morning helping tidy up the premises. When I got back home, I went straight to picking beans to cook — a Saturday tradition in my household!
However, today’s beans preparation was quite different and special.
My aunt recently got some medical test results that showed her cholesterol level is about 10% higher than normal. Because of that, she’s now on a strict diet — no food cooked with oil, no seasoning cubes like Maggi, no frying, and even noodles are prepared without artificial spices. Instead, we use crayfish, fresh fish, tomatoes, and vegetables to give her food both taste and nourishment.
While the beans were still on the fire, I remembered a job site a friend had shared with me earlier and decided to check it out. I tried applying using my phone, but I kept getting an error message. After several attempts, I had to switch to a laptop — and finally, it worked!
After submitting the application, I got curious and decided to learn more about cholesterol — and what I found was eye-opener.
I discovered that cholesterol doesn’t show obvious symptoms and can’t be tested casually like blood sugar. It moves silently in the bloodstream, which is why it’s so dangerous if unchecked. When cholesterol builds up, it can cause a condition called atherosclerosis — the narrowing or blockage of arteries. This can lead to:
✓ Coronary artery disease – blocked blood flow to the heart
✓ Peripheral artery disease – blocked blood flow to the legs and arms
✓ Carotid artery disease – blocked blood flow to the brain.
From my research, I also learned the following:
A normal cholesterol level is around 200 mg/dL
A high (abnormal) cholesterol level starts from 240 mg/dL
Bad cholesterol (LDL) should be below 100 mg/dL
For HDL (good cholesterol), men should aim for at least 40 mg/dL, and women for 50 mg/dL — though this can vary with age, body size, and other factors.
So, my dear friends, let’s all pay closer attention to our health. Don’t wait for symptoms to show — go for regular check-ups, eat more natural and whole foods, avoid junk, drink plenty of water, and stay active. Your heart will thank you later. ❤️
That’s all for today.
Thanks for reading, and stay safe out there!
Bye for now! 👋

Thanks so much. I had been having issue with my phone for quite awhile now, that's why.
