Greetings Steemit friends,

Something that seems to be a choice for many is figuring out which is preferable, taking alcohol or sticking to non-alcoholic drinks. People have their preferences and plenty of points to back them up. This has always been a big argument among adults, and honestly, I sometimes don’t understand it.

Be it alcoholic or non-alcoholic, what really motivates people to have a drink? Health specialists will inform us about the importance of water to our system and may even mention that our bodies can tolerate a certain level of alcohol or sugar. But from what I see, it’s not always about that. For some people, stress pushes them into drinking.

Others might just follow the crowd or develop the habit without caring whether it’s beneficial or not. Like I always say, too much of anything has consequences. People will always find excuses to justify drinking, but personally, it has never been a plus for me.

I look more at how alcohol intake affects the system, it often leads to poor performance and even damages relationships. Sometimes, you can not even tell where a conflict started, but alcohol triggers a mental state where you misunderstand your surroundings.

It’s generally advisable to reduce alcohol intake or, in some cases, stay away from it completely. It’s not easy to quit, but you can start by setting limits so you stay in a stable mindset. Like I always say, make that determined decision and keep yourself busy. Occupying yourself is one of the best ways to cut down or eventually stay away from alcohol.

Speaking of being determined, that’s how I started my day. I got out of bed with a clear goal. Not to miss my Sunday morning sports session and the club meeting afterward. My priority was the sporting activity. I packed my things and hit the road to the playing field.

I arrived an hour early, and some people were already there. I changed into my sports clothes and started running around the field. It is my routine to get into the sporting mood and loosen up my muscles. That is why you always see athletes warming up before the main game.

I joined the general warm-up before we started our match. I played my usual position, left back. It is never easy there, especially when you have fast wingers coming at you. It was a tough game, and they kept switching players against me.

It was a great match, though not a win for us. Like every Sunday after the game, some guys immediately started drinking at the corner of the field. Since we had a general assembly afterward, I stayed around. From the field, we moved to the clubhouse.

As a club, we always have such meetings to give members a chance to air out their concerns and for the assembly to address them. We started with food, I had fufu and bitterleaf soup with goat meat, as always, with my bottle of non-alcoholic drink.

The impression many people have about the club is that it’s all about drinking. Honestly, sometimes I feel the same way about the amount these guys can drink. Personally, I was concerned we were here for a meeting, and I hoped that with all the drinking, we could still have constructive discussions and conclusions.

Instead of taking minutes by writing, we decided to record the whole session on video. That was the best decision this way, nobody can deny what they said during the meeting, lol.

I left early, though, since the meeting was still going on. I was not even in a good mood because Liverpool had just beaten Arsenal 1-0 at Anfield. I was hoping for a draw, we are only on matchday three, so nothing to worry about yet.

I got home tired, took a bath, and tried to watch the Inter match, but couldn’t keep up. So I went to bed and called it a day.

Cheers
