COOKING: IT'S NOT ALWAYS SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS

Everybody thinks cooking is simple. You see chefs on TV tossing stuff around, and it looks kind of easy, right? But then you step into your own kitchen, look at that pile of groceries, and think, uhhhh.

Cooking can be a pain. It's way more than just dumping ingredients and hoping for the best-tasting food. If you want to do it right, it needs a plan, a bit of waiting, and maybe wishing that what you cook doesn't end up in the trash.

One huge issue, which everybody knows, is just trying to find the time. When you're working, or in school, or chasing after kids, making food feels like a dream. Ordering pizza appears to be much easier, mainly when you're tired.

And then there's the whole thing with the ingredients. Have you ever started a recipe and found out you are missing half the stuff? So annoying! Even when you've got all the right things, getting everything ready to go can be a real drag. All that washing, cutting, spicing... it eats up your time.

And don't even get me started on the stress. When you're making food for other people, it can be scary. What if they hate it? What if it has lots of salt? What if it doesn't have enough spice? All that worry can kill all the fun of it. Don't forget if someone can't eat certain things, or has allergies, or is just picky; then it gets even harder.

Ugh, and then comes the cleaning. Making the food might take, say, one hour, but another hour could be used to put all your dishes away. It makes you not want to step into the kitchen again.

But, all that said, cooking is still worth it. It feels so good to see food change and become yummy. It's like showing someone you love them, making fun memories, and keeping yourself and people you love healthy. Yeah, it won't always look great, and some things you make are better than others. But in the end, cooking is like going on an adventure which can be messy, satisfying and sometimes tiring.

So if you've ever burnt something, or left something in the oven way too long, or cried because the onions that you are chopping are making you cry, don't be angry. You're learning just like I am. We are learning new things about being better at cooking, and how to make tasty stuff.
