LANGUAGE LEARNING APP – DUOLINGO

Hey steem mate. I wrote a little letter to myself years ago and here is the full story behind it. The letter went like this!

‘Hey dear future me,

One day, you’ll be chatting away in Hangul!’

This thought sparked in my mind when I was just 16. After watching a beautifully romantic Korean movie, I found myself scribbling that dream down. Sure, I didn't understand any of the dialogue, but something about that film wrapped around my heart and made me feel alive.

Fast forward a few years—school, jobs, some ups and downs in life—and that dream felt like it got buried under a pile of responsibilities. Life had a funny way of taking over.

Then came an ordinary Sunday when I was 22. While scrolling through inspiring posts from solo travelers and folks who were mastering multiple languages, a little voice nudged my: ‘Why not now’?

I started searching for ways to learn a new language from the ground up. That’s when I kept bumping into the name Duolingo. It didn’t feel like your typical learning app. It felt warm and personal, like a friend cheering me on.

Duolingo offered quick 10-minute or more lessons, videos from native speakers, useful phrases for real-life situations, and loads of encouragement along the way. It quickly became my little ticket to an entire world of possibilities.

It wasn’t always smooth sailing. There were some bumps in the road. But eventually, I did well and one day, I found myself rewatching that beloved Korean film and this time, I tackled it without subtitles. Tears filled my eyes as the words made sense for the very first time. Then, I wrote another letter to myself.

‘Hey thee, future me,

Guess what? You speak Korean now! What’s next on your list? Spanish? Italian? Who knows! The world’s your oyster!’

Duolingo isn’t just an anatomy language app. It’s a reminder that no dream is too small or too late to chase. It is an app for wanderers, for those who bloom a little later in life and for anyone who wants to share their voice—loud and clear!

So go on, speak your truth. Start now.

Download Duolingo today.
You might need that new language for work, travel or school. I recommend.
