The Diary Game: Graduation Ceremony in My School (2/8/2025)

Hello dear colleagues in the business of writing. I am too-thrilled-for-words since Saturday. How are you doing? Hope you're doing well. Happy Monday to you all. Remember in my previous posts, I have been telling you about the preparations to send forth SS3 students in my school. Saturday, the 2nd of August was the D-Day. I was deeply involved as one of the cordinators as well as the Master of Ceremony. Stay tuned let me give you a detail of what happened.

Because I was given the responsibility by the school management to be the Master of Ceremony at the occasion, I started my plan on how to make it a colourful event. The ceremony was billed to start by 10am

I woke up by 6am to start preparation. After my morning prayers, I set out for few domestic engagements. After sweeping the floor, I washed few of my clothes I will wear to church on Sunday. I wanted to reach the venue at least by 9.30am. After laundry, I prepared a jelof rice that will take me throughout the programme.

By 9am, I had left home for the ceremony. The distance from my home to the event is just a thirty minutes drive. I didn't rush in preparing for the occasion. By 9.30am, I arrived the venue. I was to see a crowd already waiting for the event to start. The venue was at Ekpenyong branch of Kings' Seed. This branch started by 2020.

The ceremony began by exactly 10am as scheduled. The arrival of the proprietor and his opening speech set the ball of activities rolling. I was the one in charge of directing each presentation by the students.

Different activities by the students thrilled the invited guests and the parents who were excited to see their wards performed outstandingly. There was song presentation, dance, drama, etc.

Young pupils from primary four surprised me. They presented a blue print of the school permanent site. They called themselves young scientists. I had no option but to appreciate them with a token and then I snapped with them.

I continued inviting students and pupils for presentations. By 2pm, I invited the SS3 graduands to come for prayers. I also invited their parents to stand behind their wards while they kneeled down. I invited Pastor Mrs. Gloria to come and pray for them. It was a solemn moment.

Of course, it wasn't only SS3 students that were graduating. Other classes like JS3, Primary 6 and Nursery 2 pupils were also in the list of graduands. I was excited that my first son was also graduating into Primary One. My wife, my little girl and I, were there to support him. He will be 5 by August 22. His name is PraiseGod.

After a valedictory speech by Ms Deborah Uforo, the best graduating student, I called for a closing prayer. The event ended by 4.30pm. it was a long event. Although I was entertained, I felt exhausted at some point because I was doing the talking from start to finish. But I thank God, it was a success.

I came back home by 6pm because we had a brief meeting with the proprietor after the event. When I took bath, I lied down in bed then slept so I can wake up early to church the next day.

That was how my Saturday was. This day will ever remain green in my memorable because I was happy that I performed my duty as expected.

Thank you, my dear friends for always visiting my blog as well as reading my post. Have a sweet moment over there
