Thanks for reaching out my dear.

Concerning the rituals, it's a common practice, if which the believe it's good to bring them good luck.

However, the only believe in terms of crossing , the bright is available since it's located in the heart of the city, Contrary , it is believed mostly native can swim there as the marine spirit can presume any stranger who do so. Until testified, I can't tell. Many activities go on in the river, and there's no possibility of it being only the natives.

Well, still keeping the curiosity alive...

Have you come across any sad news, like people dying or going missing in a certain month or time in that river? You mentioned that marine beings can sense strangers when they are in the river...

Does this imply that these marine beings could potentially harm anyone with bad intentions while also protecting the locals?

yeah. heard of someone. a fisher man winning the canoe race, upon celebration he jumped in the river and the body go missing completely. Equally I try to swim in my time there cuz I saw some locals doing so but the told me its not save. so a lot fiction story behind it//

Wow, this is strange and I guess the fisherman was an indigene, but still I think they should always inform strangers on the dangers of the river before they go near it or even inside.

Now I know a little secret about River Wouri, thank you for sharing.
