Is 2026 world cup, the world cup Ronaldo was born to win?🤔/ The world of sports
DEEPLY MY HEART SPEAKS
People think that I do not mean well for Ronaldo but that's not true because I do. For Messi to be my GOAT doesn't mean that Ronaldo does not deserve my blessings. If there's anyone that deserves next year world cup, it's Ronaldo. He really does. After everything he’s given to football, his passion, his goals, his drive, I feel like the World Cup is the only thing left to complete his trophy room. I think so. And if it was all about deserving, then yes, I’d say give it to him already.
But at the same time, I just can’t bring myself to wish it for him, not fully. I’m saying this from a very deep place in my heart. And it’s not because of him, no, not at all, it’s because of his fans. Yes, Ronaldo fans. They make it very hard to enjoy him sometimes. I don’t know how else to say this, but in my opinion, a lot of them just argue blindly. They don’t want to see stats, they don’t want to talk truth, they don’t want to reason things out logically. They just say “Ronaldo is better than Messi” like it’s automatic. Like it’s a fact. Like it’s the law. And that alone just weakens everything for me. It sounds sentimental and it doesn't sit well with me.
MY HUMBLE OPINION
To me, Ronaldo winning the world cup 2026 isn't the problem but the chaos this will come with. I mean, the internet would be ungovernable. Ronaldo fans will take over everything. The noise? Oh, the noise will be unbearable. The debates? No peace again. They will use that trophy to erase every truth, every stat, every logical argument, and just scream that Ronaldo is now the GOAT. And honestly, that would be very unfair to Messi. If it could be so difficult for many of Ronaldo fans to admit that Ronaldo is great but not better than Messi, how much more if Ronaldo wins this time. That’s the angle I'm coming from.
I still believe in King 👑 Messi |

Now, speaking of Messi, I don’t even know where to start. He already has the world cup. He was there for his fans when they needed him the most. Messi is not the GOAT because he won the world cup but because he won the heart of the football world. He is.. because he used the world cup to seal his victory and legacy. When some persons failed to recognised him and decided to use the word cup as a final yard stick to determine who is the greatest, Messi was there for his fans. He did not say much but he acted who he is in the pitch of fate. Even at his age, Messi still has magic in his legs. I watch him in MLS and I know it’s not Europe, but the way he touches the ball, the way he reads the game, it’s just beautiful to watch. It’s still Messi that I knew.
Legendary Ronaldo last chance perhaps |

Ronaldo is still strong too. I won’t lie. The man is aging like wine. In Al-Nassr, he’s still scoring goals, still breaking records, still showing hunger. And I admire that, I truly do. Portugal is also in a fine form, they have players, they have talents like Nuno Mendes, who can create headache for any forward, so I'll not be surprise to see them in 2026. So yes, Ronaldo still has something to prove now or never, and he knows it more than I do and more than his fans do. That’s why I feel like this could be his final battle, the last page in his book. And I really want to clap for him. But those fans… they won’t let someone breathe.
What if football ⚽ speaks different |
---|
Now, there’s another thing that has been on my mind. And this one touches me differently. I keep thinking, what if 2026 is not just about Messi or Ronaldo? What if this is the year Nigeria shocks the world? I know our national team is not looking strong right now, I know we’re not standing tall on the table, but still, I believe. I believe because football is crazy. I believe because things can change. What if Nigeria rises up and does something we’ve never seen before? What if Osimhen carries us far? That would make me the happiest person alive.
And let me not lie, there are other teams that are keeping me curious. Teams like Spain. Spain has this boy, Lamine Yamal. The guy is young, sharp, electric. I think he can do wonders. I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes the star of the whole tournament. Then there’s Morocco. Ah! Morocco really made me and the whole Africans proud in 2022. I think they still have that fight in them. I think they can still go far. Countries like that, full of talent, passion, team work can turn things around. They can make things take some dimensions for the first time.
WHAT DO I REALLY WANT THIS TIME?
Truly I don't even know what I want for myself in this upcoming 2026 world 🌎 cup. So if you ask me what I want, I think I will say that I need Nigeria to be in the tournament if not for any another reason but for Victor Osimhen, the Galatasaray super terrorist striker whom I loved so much. But I know that whatever I want is not greater than what the pitch wants, it's not greater than what the pitch will display and thus football will speak. I want the pitch to decide, not the noise. This is what makes football, no matter what we speak, football speaks final. Football is like the chief judge and the pitch is the law court where persons go to proof themselves, who is right and who is wrong😃
In the end, whether it’s Messi, Ronaldo, Osimhen my upcoming GOAT, whether it's Nigeria my country, Morocco, Spain, I just hope the winner makes sense. I hope the winner brings peace, not noise. I hope the truth will not be silenced by hype. And I hope, deep in my heart, that football wins.
That’s all I think. That’s what I feel. That’s me, Deportal.
That sounds remarkably like what happened in 2022. The world forgetting that the Argentine squad had 23 other players who contributed to that trophy (25 if you include the 2 spare 'keepers).
I've never liked Cristiano Ronaldo. I preferred the original Ronaldo.
2026 is a long time away. Long enough to watch Amorin get sacked and Man Utd get relegated 😉
It will be an interesting moment.., I can't wait.

Well first of all in football you don't deserve you win. I am a great fan of Portuguese football and I don't think Portugal will win the World Cup. As for the GOAT thing, this is completely opinion, some say Messi, some say Ronaldo, some say Garrincha some say Pele and of course some say Maradona. To me there is no goat, Okocha was better technically than either of the ones I mentioned above, Ronaldinho Gaucho also incredibly talented. But I have seen football since around 1970, and I would put as some of the best Maradona, George Best, Cruyff, Magico Gonzales (this one is out of most people's radars, I saw him play in Tegucigalpa, and he was out of this world) and of course the great palyers we have today. But they are different eras, todays football is faster, better playing fields, a lighter ball that really moves plus referees make it safer for the better players, hell even better cleats and uniforms. So each to his era, no one is the best of all time because that is subjective.
Thanks for engaging..
