Shakib Al Hasan: An Iconic Figure in the History of Bangladesh Cricket | The World of Sports
The name of Shakib Al Hasan will undoubtedly come up when you ask any Bangladeshi cricket fan who is the most famous and has the most world-class records in the history of Bangladesh cricket. He is a living legend of our cricketing past, in my opinion. He is regarded as one of the best cricket all-rounders in the world, not just in our country. I first saw him play cricket in the ICC World Cup in 2007, when I was a seventh grade student. From his early years of playing to international cricket, he has shown us that he has the potential to be the best all-rounder in the world, and the selectors did nothing wrong by giving a chance to a young cricketer.

Shakib Al Hasan's few records that I found impressive are
First world cup Half century in the first match
At 2007 world cup when Shakib Al Hasan played his first world cup he made a half-century against giant team like India. I think this match gave him a lot of confidence. It was not so easy to go for a half century in the first world cup match.
7 wicket for 36 runs vs NZ and half century in a test match
Bangladesh had a fantastic test match against New Zealand in 2008. Although they lost the match by a small margin, Shakib Al Hasan's all-round performance impressed me greatly. He took 7 wickets in the first inning and scored a half-century in the second. He was doing great against the top teams which gave the Bangladeshi fans a hope that he can be a world class player who can represent Bangladesh in the big stage.
92 runs off 69 balls vs SL
In 2009, I witnessed an epic knock from Shakib Al Hasan on our television's black and white screen. I didn't belive that Bangladesh will win that day against Sri Laka in the tri nation series. Great bowlers of the era, including legendary spin bowler Muralitharan and mystic spinner Ajantha Mendis, were on that Sri Lankan team, and I never imagined Shakib Al Hasan would play an attacking knock and win the game for them under enormous pressure. I was overjoyed that day after Bangladesh's victory over Sri Lanka.
No. 1 All rounder in three formats
The first all-rounder in cricket history to rank first in all-round rankings in a three-format match was none other than Shakib Al Hasan. No cricketer from Bangladesh has achieved this before.
Long IPL Career
He was the first Bangladeshi cricketer to have a long IPL career and won the first IPL title with KKR. He won this championship twice with KKR.
Tournament best perfomence in ICC world cup 2019
Shakib Al Hasan displayed world-class performance during the 2019 World Cup. He scored 606 runs while batting and 11 wickets while bowling. No all-rounder in cricket history has performed as sensationally as Shakib Al Hasan in the World Cup.
Best left arm spinner in the world
The greatest left-arm spinner and leading wicket-taker is Shikb Al Hasan. He claimed 708 wickets in international competitions.
Record that is exclusive to Shakib
Shakib Al Hasan is the first cricketer in the history of world cricket to have 14000 runs and 700 wickets combined across all formats.
