Beauty has a price to pay

It's been a harsh monsoon back home in India in Lonavala where I have my Airbnb holiday home. Every day there is some or the other issue due to heavy rains and harsh winds. As much as it gets beautiful with the views on the other hand the roads become extremely challenging. When I was looking out for a place to build the home, I wanted something which is very much cut off from city life, when I saw this location, it hit me instantly and there were no second thoughts, I wanted to make my home here. Hubby warned me about the road conditions, the roads here are still not developed. Not the whole road, but just the last 5 minutes road is rough.

We have made an application to the local bodies to make up this road, and they have agreed to it, but the problem is right now it's raining so heavily that no work can be done, if they do anything, it will get washed off, so there is no use. We have to wait till the monsoon gets over and it gets completely dry before they can start the work and till then we have to manage with what is there. Temporary fixes are being done, but that is not really solving the problem.

This is the condition of the road and its very difficult to drive through it.

On one side when the road is so bad, then on the other hand the views right now are breathtaking.

It was an informed decision for me when I bought this place, the scenery here is so serene that I can overlook all the challenges that it comes with. When we had bought the place 5 years back, there was no electricity and water connection. I knew we had lot of challenges to deal with but then I still wanted it. A lot of work has been done in the last 4 years. Electricity issue is sorted and I also got solar panels installed for my home electricity, which solves a lot of problems. Water we are still working on, it will take some time. Right now our water supply is done through tankers and we have made a underground tank to store water. One of our neighbors has a well, he too supplies us water in times of emergencies. While there are challenges, solutions are also there.
