It's been a hectic day
Over the last few years, I have become very dependent on my helpers, especially my cook. When they are not around, I feel totally lost. But then they too have to take their holidays time to time. My cook is not going to be around for 2 weeks as she is travelling to her home town. 2 weeks is not a very long time, but to me it's feeling like 2 months. Anyways cooking is not my favorite activity, for a day or two I am fine to do it, but then on a regular basis it becomes tedious for me. And at the same time when she is not around, I do some new experiments also, preparing some new dishes. Inn the normal routine, she has her weekly offs, so on those days, I do some new experiments, on some days it is successful and on some it is a disaster as well.
When she is around, I am relaxed. I do not have to think much about managing my time, but when she is not, I have to plan my day by previous evening only. In our home I bring everything fresh food, we do not use fridge stored foods, which includes meats and vegetables. Therefore, the first morning activity is buying groceries. Thankfully there is a supermarket below my building, so it is convenient for me, and then the cooking, cleaning continues. If I have to do all of this, then I start my office work late and even the blogging activity. With her around the whole cooking activity gets taken care off. These 2 weeks I will have to somehow manage it.
Today with her not being around, I decided to prepare something Asian type. I prepared Chicken and chilly oyster sauce. It has turned out very well. Sorry, I could not take any pictures, as there was so much at hand to do. I also prepared cheese garlic toast along with it. I hope hubby is going to like both of these dishes. Cooking is still ok for me, but all the cutting and preparations and the marketing part gets hectic for me, and half my energy gets drained out in it, after which all my enthusiasm of cooking goes down...hehe.
2 weeks are going to pass off quickly I know, but thinking everyday what to prepare is also one task. With my sciatica pain coming up again in the last few days my overall speed of doing things has slowed down. Last evening I went to the hospital and got an X-ray done, my Doctor said there is a compression again in L5 and S1 and I need to take bed rest as much as possible. I am taking it easy and going slow on my daily activities. The last time I had this pain was around 5 years back and it almost killed me. I do not wish to go through such a situation again so I am taking all the precautions as much as possible.
Hopefully everything will be fine again and back in place

@nainaztengra, your post is a wonderful slice of life and so relatable! It's charming how you openly share the dependence on your cook and the mix of feelings – the slight panic with the freedom to experiment in the kitchen. I especially appreciate your honesty about the realities of cooking, from grocery runs to the energy drain from prep work.
The resilience you show, especially with managing your sciatica, is inspiring. I hope the bed rest helps and that you're back to feeling your best soon! The chicken and chili oyster sauce sounds delicious (even without the picture!), and I'm sure your hubby will appreciate your efforts. Wishing you a swift and comfortable two weeks filled with minimal pain and perhaps some surprisingly delightful culinary discoveries! Thanks for sharing such an authentic glimpse into your daily life!
