Great heat and ripe plums, harvest begins today
This heat has contributed to the fruits and vegetables ripening faster, but it has been a fruitful year. Late in the afternoon I went to the orchard.I also brought a ladder, although I'm pruning the orchard to make it easier for me to pick. The plum trees had a lot of fruit...
They were mostly ripe, although I had to leave some to ripen further because they were really hard.I separated them into crates, that is, I made a selection because my wife and I made a lot of things from plums. I am mainly in charge of making brandy and drying plums, and my wife is in charge of various specialties, from jams, compotes to cakes.I think we were a little late because the sun had already set, so we loaded the crates into the car and headed home. There's still a little bit left and I'll be back tomorrow morning. The next day we got to work. The plums were washed and the preparation for cooking the jam began. And I had to make a new sieve for drying plums because my old one started to break.
