I can understand that. Sometimes I think living a life that is full of caring for creatures you love is the best life there is, why doesn't everyone want to do that, and then one of them dies. I've had a dog be clearly depressed after the passing of another dog, and cats clearly mourning another cat, but the chickens seem not to notice at all except for the pecking order switch ups. I've never had ducks though. This makes me want to get some. Such loyalty!
I've never seen a duck behave this way. The only thing I can think of is that he thinks he's a goose and geese are loyal. That's what makes the whole thing so strange and tragic!

And interesting! Compassion can be learned, even by a duck, you just have to hang around it a lot.
I have learned so much from my animals! Even the ones that are supposed to be dumb. Even the dumb ones know more than I do.
