RE: Fall finally came to north Texas
I'm debating whether to store them in the shop or on a pallet in the chicken run, to make use of some of their unused vertical space. I think a hundred bags would be overkill for us, as our operation is way smaller than yours. Maybe one day though :) That's a whole lot of leaves in not a whole lot of space! That's great!
I actually took a small harvest of some of the larger comfrey leaves that had been broken by our recent rains. I tore them up and crushed them and put them under mulch around some of our small trees. Exciting to see things coming together piece by piece.
The chickens are all munching on pumpkin innards. I debated whether to put them in the compost or the chicken runs, but then I remembered that the chicken runs are compost too, so... :)
You'll be surprised how many leaves you will go thro. All our leaves are for the run, just 18 birds. I like to keep the ground covered, especially in summer when it gets so hot. It helps to keep the soil cooler.
