Local Problems or Success Stories.
Hi everyone I am delighted to participate in this contest organized by @mainuna in hot news community. Here is my opinion to this most interesting contest.
Every society has different problems they are facing which in one way or another affect their daily activities. The problem we are currently facing in my community is the issue of electricity. Lack of electricity in my area affects businesses of some people who use the profit they earn from the business to support themselves and their family. As a result of this failure of electricity, we also find it difficult to charge our electronic devices except those who have their own generator make use of it.
Some people use money to charge their phones, power banks, and torchlights at the charging center at the rate of #200 naira or #300, which is equivalent to 1 steem. Since there is no electricity, hardly do we use water in our various homes because electricity is the main thing we use to pump water for general use.
Someone was elected as the chairman of the community association to respond to the affairs of the community members. I remember when a thief carted away our transformer cable, causing us to have no electricity for some days and everywhere became dark, putting our lives at risk. This man we elected as the chairman and his team made a positive change by charging each house to contribute money so that they could buy another cable. Once they paid the agreed-upon money, the electrical engineer was given the money to buy another cable. They fixed this, and when the light turned on, everyone was so excited.
Another thing I could remember is when the pumping machine spoiled, there was someone who was so kind and gave them another one without collecting any money.
There is no development at all. We just stayed in one place since I relocated to this area. There is no good road that link one street to the other so that people can move freely with their cars. The government does not attend to this. When it is time for election, they will make promises that they will not fulfill. If there is a good road network, businesses of people in my area will prosper. There are some places where erosion has damaged the road. Those who have cars complain about the road because it damages their vehicles, especially the absorbers at the front and back. The government is the only body that can do this for us because it requires a huge amount of capital.
I believe they have written to the Ministry of Work concerning this road. Even if they do not write to the State Ministry, it is their responsibility to give us a good road network. As we are in the rainy season, some people will join hands together in doing some community service by filling big potholes with sand so that vehicles can reach their destination easily.
Another local problem my community solved was when the previous 200kVA transformers were spoiled. Before we bought the new one we are still using today, they wrote a letter to the National Electricity Power Authority (NEPA) that they needed another transformer. All our efforts to get another one from the government failed. We stayed in darkness for more than a month since we didn't see a response from the government. Each house in the community later contributed money to purchase a new one for our own safety.
It's important for others to know about the problems we are facing because someone from another place can come to our aid so that our people can enjoy a quality of life. We keep on learning every day; opinions written by other users can assist us in solving the same problems we are experiencing in our area.
Additionally, it's better to state this clearly for the world to read: the government cannot do everything we need for us. We, as community members, must do the little things we can so that improvements can happen in our area. You can see that collective effort and a sense of responsibility are the keys that help us achieve what we have today. If we wait for the government, it may delay us to the extent that our electronic gadgets may spoil.
Conclusion
