Assalamu Alaikum,
I traveled to Rangpur a few days ago to buy a phone. While returning home, I came by train from Rangpur Rail Station. Rangpur Rail Station is considered one of the main and busiest railway stations in the northern part of Bangladesh. It is located in the center of Rangpur district and is operated under the Western Railway.

Passengers coming from different parts of the country use this station to enter Rangpur and from here they travel to various destinations in the country. Rangpur Station is not just a means of transportation, it is deeply involved in the economy, culture and lifestyle of the Rangpur region. Because the mineral resources of Bangladesh come through this station.

Thousands of passengers use this station every day. The popular train 'Rangpur Express' running on the Dhaka-Rangpur route passes through this station. In addition, several other intercity and mail trains including Lalmoni Express, Nilsagar Express, Dolanchapa Express maintain communication with different parts of the country through this station. However, this was my first journey.

The station building is built in traditional architectural style and has all the necessary facilities for passengers. There are ticket counters, separate restrooms for male and female passengers, public toilets, security management, tea shop and canteen for light meals. There are a sufficient number of cleaning staff. The station is always clean.

The platforms of the station are spacious enough and a digital announcement system is in place, which helps in informing the passengers about the train at the right time. In addition, there are ramps and special assistance systems for disabled passengers. Some of the stations are still in a very old condition, as you can imagine from the pictures. Currently, they say that plans have been made to further modernize Rangpur station, so that it can become an international standard railway station. Work has started towards that end.

Rangpur Railway Station is not only limited to passenger transport, but it is also an important center for transporting goods from this agriculturally based region. Therefore, more freight trains are also seen here. Potatoes are sent from here to different parts of the country. This railway is used to supply agricultural products such as paddy, rice, vegetables, potatoes, etc. from the Rangpur region to the whole country, which ensures easy and affordable transportation for local farmers.

This station plays an important role in the rapid delivery of goods from Rangpur and surrounding areas to the markets of Dhaka and Chittagong. There is also a separate cargo handling facility for transporting goods, which is helpful in commercial activities. Which is playing a big role in the development of underprivileged areas like Kurigram in Rangpur.
