Govinda Bhita, Mahasthan, Bogura
ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
Dear friends, I hope everyone is doing well. I am also doing well, Alhamdulillah, thanks to Allah's endless blessings. Today, I will discuss a new place in front of you and review it. I will show you a beautiful place located in Bogura district in the northern part of our country, and it is an ancient site. A place from a long time ago called Govinda bhita; first, I will provide a photo of that place.
A SIGNBOARD GIVEN BESIDE THE ROAD BEFORE ENTERING GOVINDA BHITA.
This place is located in Mahasthangarh of Bogura district in the northern part of Bangladesh. There are several other places here which I will gradually present to you, and in a previous review, I discussed some aspects related to this place. It is situated about five to six kilometers away from the city within Bogura district. I definitely had to buy a ticket to enter here, and with that ticket, I entered inside.

There are quite a few people in that area who manage the place here. They set the ticket prices and allow outsiders to enter based on the tickets. When I entered there, I immediately saw a signboard. The signboard has detailed discussions about all matters related to this Govinda Bhita. It mentions its establishment, its permanence, and the stories behind it. In this context, I am presenting below what is written here.
THE SIGNBOARD OF GOVINDA BHITA WHERE SOME DETAILED DISCUSSIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.
Govinda bhita , locally known as Govinda bhita, is an archaeological site located to the north near the ruins of Mahasthangarh at the bend of the Karatoya River. The cultural text written in the 12th-13th century mentions this temple in 'Karatoya Mahatma'. Although it is known as the Govinda or Vishnu temple, no evidence has been found to classify this ancient site as a Vaishnav temple.
Initially, excavations conducted in 1928-29 and later in 1960 led to the discovery of significant archaeological artifacts from various periods starting from the 2nd century BCE. However, no noteworthy architectural structures from the early Gupta period have been found. Among the structures unveiled by excavations, the ruins of two temples to the east and west are particularly important.
The two temples are located within a strong boundary wall that is divided into four phases, from the late Gupta period (6th century) to the Muslim period. Among the other artifacts discovered at this archaeological site, noteworthy items include cast copper coins, silver coins, pieces of North Indian black polished pottery, terracotta plaques adorned with Shunga period artistic features, terracotta seals inscribed with Brahmi script, and low-value stone beads.
The environment here is very beautiful; it is not a very large place, but rather a small area has been turned into a homestead. This homestead has become a symbol of beauty and has transformed into a green area surrounded by grass. There are brick walls and various types of walls around the green grass. These walls have been filled with soil and raised to enhance beauty. Essentially, it was originally high in some areas and lower in others. I have also presented a few pictures of this homestead below.
AS SOON AS I REACHED THE TOP, I TOOK A SELFIE FROM UP THERE.
THIS PLACE HAS A MAIN DOOR AND HERE I SEE ANOTHER DOOR SURROUNDED BY NATURAL GREENERY.
THE BEAUTY OF THE TOP PART OF THE HOUSE. IT IS RIGHT AT THE VERY TOP.
I AM STANDING IN THE MIDDLE WITH HIGH MOUNDS ON BOTH SIDES FOR PHOTOGRAPHY.
I HAVE TAKEN IT FROM THE GOVINDA BHITA.
I PICKED THE GOVINDA BHITA FROM THE BOTTOM
To be honest, this is a natural place and there was a lot of good air here; the breeze was reaching beautifully from all sides. The place is not very big and there is not much crowd; people come here to sit on the green grass and chat with friends. After staying here for a while, I was about to leave when I noticed a big tree nearby that I really liked. I also took a picture of the brick enclosure wall here. These bricks were made a long time ago.
THE OLD BRICKS HAVE BEEN ARRANGED IN JUST THIS WAY ON THIS COURTYARD.
ONE OF THE BEAUTIES OF THIS YARD IS THIS TREE.
In short, as a natural environment, I will always choose this place and be able to enjoy beautiful moments. Friends and couples can come here and sit down to chat and enjoy a wonderful time. However, I would personally suggest that seating arrangements be made here so that more people can sit. Additionally, the boundary should be constructed in a much stronger way. That was my review for today. Everyone take care.
