"Local Problems or Success Stories."
Do you know why many people love this Nigerian celebrity called Very Dark man? It's because hes an activist, he always put people problems ahead of his own. Infact if you try to do research about his activities you'll realize that he had help thousands of people to recover fund, condemned money laundry and so on. So when it comes to a topic like this: Local problems or success story I will definitely choose to talk about the problem we're facing in our locality.
Mind you, you may choose to write about success story which I will also love to read about. Don't forget to tag me when you publish it. Let reason this question to explain my Local problem.
>What is the biggest problem people are currently facing in your area?
Someone share a story of how she rented a house but unknowingly to her it was a flooded place. One day at about 12am midnight it started raining heavily. From her story everything in her room started floating as the water covered everywhere. At first she thought she was dreaming until when she open her eyes. She couldn't stop laughing as she made a video of it.
This story reminds me of our street. There's a particular house in our street that..... anytime rain fall, all their room would be filled with water. Out of curiosity of why it always the same house all the time...I realized that the house is very close to the ground and it's a sloppy place. You can imagine how a place can be when the road level is higher than the people houses or compound, meaning that instead of flowing water to flow out of the compound......the water instead flow from the road to the compound.
Is there someone in your community who is making a positive difference?
Of course there's always someone, should I say a savior to people. But in this case the person who makes the positive difference is the government representative. He is someone who has been there for a long time and he had tried to make people comfortable in a way that:
- He provides Street light
- He provides solar system
- He renovated road and gutters etc
At least being in Lagos for some years now I can say he tried as a man. Currently one of his project turn our street from a lonely and quiet street to a shining and tie road street. Did I forgot to mention the street light?
Has your neighborhood recently experienced any development or improvement?
Of course from the begining of the project in our street, I always take a picture of it everyday but unfortunately I couldn't show all of them here as some of them are on my old mobile phone. But the good thing is that I still have some of them in my manageable mobile, showing how the accomplish it to the end. What am talking about is our street which was transformed to a City. I bet you if you know how our street use to be and now that everything has changed you'll surely believe me that this is a great development.
What steps are people taking to solve local problems?
In our street the most problems they face was during raining season. So in other to solved this they:
👉Renovated some houses and bringing it up from the ground a bit.
Clearing and building a new gutter for easy flow of water.
👉Apart from that, the road was tie like main road with sm speed bump to control the speed of motor cycles and car(street accident)
👉Now everyone can now sleep peacefully when when heavy rain is falling.(The flowing river has gone)
Why do you think your story is important for others to know?
I heard this words several times "experience is the best teacher". That doesn't mean you must wait for something to happen to you before you learn a lesson. By the way you can be a great teacher when you learned from the great teacher. The reason why I think this story is important is that.......most people experience this same situation but at some point no one is willing to help.
But the little advice I will like to share concerning this story is that: you should be able to find out the condition of place you want to rent or to build a house so that you'll not be like that lady that sleep and wakeup floating on the water. Make sure the house in not in a sloppy area to avoid turning your home to a flooded river.
Also ensure to always clear the gutters around you because if the gutters is blocked the water will find a way to rush out thereby giving you a natural swimming pool (just kidding). Environmental sanitation is very important. This is a local problem reporting from Lagos state Nigeria.
