The Diary = Freestyle Writing - Today's Sit-at-home Order and Its Impact || 30th May 2025

Hello beloved friends,

It is another day to engage in my free-style writing. Welcome to my blog. Today is the 30th day of May 2025 and this came with its own uniqueness. This week has been a handful with activities and events making the highlights of each day. Good enough, it is nothing sad news this time. My last report was on a tragedy with lives lost, but today is a day deserted due to an age-long agitation by the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).

My immediate Environment

When I stepped out briefly to capture today's adherence to the order given, it was really a 99.9% compliance level. An order was given within the southeastern region of the country termed "Biafra Remembrance Day." A day supposedly set aside to remember the fallen heroes within the region since the agitation for independence since the year 1967. The compliance level could be an indication of the great signal of togetherness this has gathered over time.

This was my thought; assuming the collapse of the billboard on the 28th Day of the month, which was shared in my last post happened on this day, no one would have been hurt. The collapse would have happened on an empty street without lives lost. This has been my thoughts since today and how bad I feel since the ugly demise of these fatefuls who innocently lost their lives due to government inefficiencies.

That aside, the sit-at-home observed today was a lot more severe, unlike the usual Monday sit-at-home days that still have a compliance level of over 65%. Funnily, the leader of this group (IPOB) is still in detention by the federal government for an alleged treason felony. Unfortunately, the court has granted him bail at different times, but the government has continued to come up with more litigations to keep him behind bars.

From my workplace view, the sit-at-home observed today crippled all acquisition activities that, in turn, would negatively impact my end-of-month performance. Today's figures are lost, and this can't be recouped with only a day remaining in the month. Yes, these are valid excuses for today's glitch, but this may not be tenable when KPIs are determined quarterly. A sad one...

In my quest to know what's going on in other eastern states, I was able to inquire about the situation in my regional office in the neighboring state, and what I got was more intense than in my home state. This other state has continually been a hotspot for violence, and its compliance level was more and believe most people complied with this to avoid any unforeseen quagmire.

Compliance level in Imo

One thing that interested me in all of this and this year's compliance level was the fact that we didn't get to hear of any violence or clash between security forces. It was good to know that it ended peacefully. Hopefully, we will all continue our daily activities tomorrow.

Thank you, for reading...
