RE: Watch out Tesla! Cummins Debuts New Heavy Duty 145 kWh Electric Short Haul 18,000 Pound Rig.

This is the future. The infrastructure will have to adapt to support electric vehicles. It would be better to get more freight on the railways

Sort:

wow, just thinking about the size of battery a train would need. That would be pretty cool. I guess they could connect the electric buses in cities. do in cities and have a steady source of power. The industry will is definitely expanding. Where to my money for the next boom electric transportation?

Well trains don't need batteries as the tracks are built with the power supply built in. With trucks the companies may be able to build their own charging stations. They may even get into swapping batteries out to reduce the stopped time.

the battery swap would be an efficient way to save time, that might even be faster than filling a tank with petrol.

It's been talked about for cars, but there are issues with who owns the batteries. With a fleet of trucks there's less issue. As they can tow a lot anyway they should be able to hook up an extra battery pack for some trips.
