Nice breakdown, if a story is good I think I could overlook many things even some of the glaring recruitment issues you pointed out. But overall it sounds a bit grandiose as a lot is maybe in the story only to give the feeling of a world that is complex.

As for the last bit, so you would recommend I read it? X)
