Incredible India monthly contest of June#1|Old Vs New!
Greetings and welcome to my blog. I am glad to be a part of this contest on the new and old.
Share the things that you believe were best in past, but now have been changed.
Times come and go and seasons changes . Change they said is always constant and we expect things to change for the better even though some end of changing for the worse and the good things we had to look up to gets worn out in the so called technology era and tech age.
There are a couple of things I think where best in the past than now for example;
- The way we were trained and disciplined. During our days, the sentence spare the rod and spoil the child had so much weight. We could say that our parents didn’t spare the rod when it came to how they trained and disciplined us. They knew that doing that would simply spoil us and they were very strict in our upbringing. Parental upbringing in the past was better than what we see in this new age.
A lot had changed about parental upbringing and discipline had dwindled greatly. Spanking a child now is seen as an offense in some countries and parents or guardians can even be jailed for disciplining their children and sometimes the kids are taken from the parents and given to another for custody and this had led to so much decadence in moral upbringing of the new age children.
- In the past, we had better communal living and togetherness than we have now. People shared quality relationships before the era of social media and technology. We had quality lives and looked out for one another. Families had better time out and spent time relating with one another. I remembered that when I was a child, my mum used to tell folklore stories to my siblings and I. We had great time of togetherness as we bonded and shared things in common.
With the inception of tech and social media, the fabrics of quality realationship has been torn apart. Now everyone including both children and adults alike are all glued to their gadgets and phone scrolling away even when they are in the same space. For example, I have a room mate that rarely talks to me. I have tried to engage her with talking but it’s not working. From morning to night she’s glued to her phone watching one thing or the other. Quality relationship is far from us all because of social media and technology.
How do you define old is gold?
Old is gold indeed. This saying has a connection in referring to the wisdom and quality that comes from old age. Old people are known to be people who are full of wisdom due to the very experiences they pass through in life. The experience had made them a haven of wisdom and wisdom we know is a treasure and hence it’s said that old is gold.
This experiences and wisdom cannot be found in so many young people. These wealth of experiences makes a whole of difference and hence the saying that old of gold. Old is gold indeed because one wisdom from the old and experienced makes a lot of difference and can guide and direct and also teach us how to avoid life’s expensive mistakes.
Discuss some points why changes are needed for a better future!
Well, change they say is a constant. No matter how we want to avoid change, change would always come and things won’t always be the same. We were once in Stone Age and now we are in tech age. All of these if because of change.
Changes are needed for a better future because man evolves and grow. Change makes for growth. When someone grows, he is expected to leave old ways of doing things and embrace the new. New technologies, new ideas because of mans need to advance.
Anyone who is not growing and adapting would probably be dying. So all of these are the reason for the need for change in man and his ways of doing things.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. We pray for new things and may they always bring us better things than the old.
