Incredible India monthly contest of May #2| Your all-time favourite fantasy character!
You are not a Filipino if you haven’t heard the shout “Darna!”

Alright, you guys, let’s talk about DARNA!
All Pinoy who love superheroes know her, right? That iconic Pinay superhero who’s been slaying since 1951! Her fame is not just some character, yes, she’s the superheroine of the Philippines!
Imagine these decades of comics, movies, and hit TV shows, all about her. And the best part? The biggest, most legendary actresses in the country have played her! Every generation has its own Darna, and each one brought something fierce to the role.
Well, fame is cool and all, but that's not why she does this. Darna’s more than just a hero in a red suit. She’s woven into our culture. Like, who hasn’t pretended to be her as a kid, yelling "Darna!" while jumping off the bed? She’s the symbol of girl power, justice, and never backing down, something we’ve all grown up with.
And let’s be real… she’s timeless. Whether it’s the old-school comics or the latest series, Darna’s story keeps inspiring us. She’s one of the Filipino heroes who don’t just save the day, they live in our hearts forever.

Here, what if you're given a chance to be gifted with Darna's powers, but there's a catch? You only have one day to wield this incredible strength. How would you make every second count?
Alright, listen to this, Darna's backstory is so different from your typical superhero! Do you know how most heroes are already jacked or born with powers? Not our girl. She starts as Narda, a regular girl who walks with a limp. Life isn't easy for her, but here's the crazy part. One day, she finds this magical space stone just lying around!
And get this, when she swallows the stone and yells "DARNA!", boom! She transforms into a superhero! There, she's got super strength, can fly through the clouds, and is invincible. Tell me, that's next level dude!
What I love is how it shows that anyone, even someone who seems ordinary or has struggles, can become something amazing when they get their chance to shine. And the sweetest part? Her little brother Ding is her ride-or-die sidekick. He's one of the only people who knows her secret, and after their mom passed away, Narda raised him while also saving the world. That's the girl's power!
Isn't it wild how a simple girl with a disability becomes the strongest hero in the Philippines? It makes you think that maybe we all have a little Darna magic waiting inside us, you know?

Let me tell you about my childhood Darna fantasy, I was obsessed!
You know, kids pretend to be superheroes... Well, I didn’t just pretend, I believed. Every time I tied a towel around my neck and shouted "Darna!", I wasn’t just playing, I felt her power. And man, did I have big plans.
I was gonna fight all her enemies, like, bring it on... One of those that I wanted to knock down is Valentina, that snake-haired witch with her creepy hissing. Punch her like there's no more tomorrow!
…Okay, fine, I also practiced her flying pose in front of the mirror. And made Ding-level sidekick plans with my little sister… (I have no younger brother, though) With no shame.
Ugh... Am I the only one who did this? Well, who was your ultimate Darna villain you wanted to defeat?
Oops, you know how Darna’s all about saving the world? Well, turns out, we’ve got our responsibilities too, just in real life.
Power isn’t just for superheroes. Whether it’s influence, skills, or even just your voice, having power means you gotta use it right. You can change things, affect people, even shape the future, so you better believe that comes with a job... don’t be reckless with it. The stronger you are, the more you gotta think before you act. Having power is not about control, though it sounds like you can... still, it’s about doing what’s right.
So yeah, Darna’s got the planet. But us? We’ve got each other. And that’s just as big!
I am inviting my friends @kyrie1234, @jes88, and @tonyoi23 to join this contest.
Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
Darna is my childhood favorite movie. She is indeed an icon because it was from a Filipino writer.
That imagination shouting 'Darna', then after that, flying around, and then afterwards doing karate with Valentina! I miss those childhood days ma'am.😊
