Hello amigos, I am pleased to bring my point of view on this contest, which talks about the damages that inventions have brought to humanity, also explaining the reasons behind the existing conflicts around the world. Natural resources and the power struggle often contribute to conflicts in several locations across the globe.
Do you believe inventions can bring destruction? Justify!
Inventions can be beneficial to man's survival, possessing both positive and negative impacts. Inventions have several advantages like improving the standard of living, helping in the solving of complex equations, and increasing efficiency and accuracy. But is it not to forget that these inventions can have a negative impact as well. Let's start by diving into the educational system where students hardly focus on their studies since they have access to social media via phones and laptops.
This is one of the destructive technologies that has caused the production of individuals who have no worth to society. When students or adolescents start making use of social media at a very young age, they tend to let their studies slide and copy whatever they see on social media. This may lead to irresponsible youths in the society, not having jobs can cause them to indulge in criminal activities to survive, also bringing the great legacy their ancestors have left to an end.
Another destruction which has been caused by technology is the invention of nuclear weapons that are like atomic bombs which are capable of of bringing massive distribution which can lead to the loss of lives, properties, rendering individuals to become refugees, I don't see the importance of nuclear weapons in the military, is it to fight aliens 👽 that we are not sure if it's existence or cause damage to the good things which we have already achieved.
You can just imagine the North Korean president "Kim Jong Un, " just wanting to acquire more nuclear weapons for defense against what I can understand till this very day. The citizens of North Korea don't get access to the internet; there is a special way they connect to the internet built by the president to restrict them from accessing it.
The production of goods and services in industries is capable of harming the environment, leading to water pollution and climate change. In the production of goods, the smoke that comes out during production can harm the lungs and even cause problems for the eyes. It is advised that inventors consider the destructive acts that their inventions can cause and develop solutions that can reduce the destruction.
What are the main reasons behind any conflict? Share your viewpoint.
Conflict can be caused by several factors, such as values, beliefs, and ideology. There was a time when my country, Nigeria, was experiencing a civil war, which led to the loss of lives and caused massive destruction. This war practically happened between the northern and the southern protectorate. The northern parts of Nigeria were mainly Muslim, and the southern part was mainly Christian. The war started in 1900, but had no major effect. The fulani tribe who were originally from Niger invaded Nigeria and conquered they nothing parts.
The war majorly started on July 6, 1967, and ended on January 15, 1970. The reason for the war was that they had nothing in common, and the sort of protectorate didn't have the same beliefs. The two religions, Christianity and Islam, did not share the same beliefs and values. Something else that can cause conflict is the struggle for power and competition for natural resources.
The Biafra tribe, which was the Igbos, had crude oil in the Delta State, Nigeria. The Nigerian government, which was the Fulani-Hausa tribe, still wanted control over affairs concerning the oil that was recently discovered in the state. The Nigerian government wanted to control the Biafran people. Till this day, there have been several cases of killed individuals, mainly youths of Delta state, because they decided to make use of the crude oil.
You can conduct research by yourself and discover that the Northern part of Nigeria doesn't have natural resources that can help them survive on their own, which is why they depend on the south and continue causing trouble every step of the way. I am not condemning them for being Muslims, but they have an inhuman attitude of taking what doesn't belong to them. Till this day, they are still in control of all the resources, and still do not want peace to reign.
The Fulani herdsmen heal anyone they see that are not belong to their tribe. There have been several killings in Benue State with thousands losing their life because of Fulani herdsmen. You can now see what I mean by competition for natural resources causing conflict, since the Fulani herdsmen like rearing cattle, can't they just take it to their homeland and rear them they but still stay in the south to cause problems. Benue State is known to be the state that has almost all the natural resources a nation needs for survival, having different varieties of fruits, crops, etc. ONLY A NIGERIAN CAN UNDERSTAND THESE FACTS
Conflict can also be caused by misunderstanding and miscommunication. If the Fulani-Hausa people had understood that those resources are not their own, that means they have no right to gain authority over them; there would have been no conflict. In everything concerning a notion's growth, there must be wisdom and understanding. Just imagine having a plot of land and someone else comes and wants ownership and full control over the affairs concerning the land, how would you feel?
Another factor that leads to conflict is social and cultural differences. The Fulani-Hausa tribe had different personalities, like having a strong system of government, which was why the colonial masters gave them authority over the north and south. But those this give them the right to take what belongs to the south? No.
Another factor that categorically determines conflict is economic interests. The Fulani-Hausa tribe had their interest at heart, forgetting the south, wanting to take control of the south's resources for their growth and survival, which was why the south could not sit and watch their resources being controlled by individuals who had selfish interests.
What are the main points that one should remember while handling power?
With power comes great responsibility and challenges. I should be wise to remember that handling power with care helps build a prosperous nation. Leaders should always remember to lead their followers by example, setting a path and following it will create a good mindset amongst citizens and enable them to do what is right because their leaders are doing the same.
In the process of handing power, we must remember that we have to have the interest of others at heart, not putting on a selfish attitude such as acquiring wealth for yourself and forgetting that you are also in line. Not being selfish will help to build trust amongst citizens and help build unity. While handling power, we should also remember that for the nation to thrive, we have to create jobs and empower others for the successful growth of the nation.
While handling power, we should always try to make informed decisions and ensure that it is made openly for everyone to be aware. Another thing which we must never forget while handling power is being just and truthful in passing judgements, making sure that criminals pay for their crimes, and rejecting any form of bribe. While handling power, we are to treat others with respect regardless of their status.
"Handle with care" - How can we educate society with this term?
Handle with care is a phrase that can educate society in several ways, such as teaching adults and children about empathy, respect, and kindness. This expresses that the world is small and should be a place where individuals have good memories. Respecting elders is a way of handling things with care, recognizing the fact that respect helps build a better society.
"Handle with care" is a phrase that also promotes the handling of objects, the environment, and animals carefully. This phrase also educates society to exhibit considerate behavior towards people with disabilities, ensuring that we consider them to create a better society. "Handle with care" also means that we should cultivate the culture of care and compassion in areas that lack this quality of sympathy.
The phrase handle with care also talks about minimizing the wastage of goods and services and the increase of environmental conservation. This also talks about the adequate management of the available resources. It is a call to healthy relationships and the implementation of conflict resolution strategies. Through the Incorporation of the phrase "handle with care" into education and societal values, we can promote a culture of kindness, responsibility, and sustainability.
