“The Door That Opened.”

I walked a very rough path,
like fingers on my shadow.
The days were cold, the nights long,
so I lost my poor voice, I lost my song.

All my dreams began to fade,
like footprints in the sea.
I came to a wall, without light, without a door,
and fell to the muffled floor.

And I assumed it would be The last page,
The drawing of a weary curtain.
But when I wept and asked searchingly, "Why?"
The wind answered, and once more the stars answered.

It is finished, so you think; wait and see,
the place to begin is the place where you end."
And in that half-suspended word,
a silent peace swirled around me.

I rose once more, not healthy, not cured,
yet more powerful, less disguised.
Tears streamed down my face.
They swept away the dust, they gave me courage.

I turned, with heavy steps,
and looked and I saw new paths in the ground.
The wall was gone, And in its place... There was a flower garden before them.

The corn I think I hadn't seen,
Had grown deep, secretly, slowly.
And now they too rose toward blue skies,
Twenty-somethings once more, young and new.

It wasn't my last episode that day.
It curved and wove its way.
And all the loss, and all the scar,
Had brought me closer to what you are.

A broken heart has three beats,
Even a suffering soul can force it.
Life isn't a straight line, so,
Turn again, redesign the destination.

Well, that's your lost trail, And there you lose your trail;
And you don't feel the world will bring you back,
Hope, you know, is soft and small,
It can transcend everything.

Why I wrote this poem (Reflection)

This poem is very personal, as it's based on one of those moments when I saw the world crumbling around me. I was stuck in life, in the sense that I was at the end of something and experiencing a lack of direction. However, soon, as the days and weeks passed, I found that life was leading me to new paths, new friends, new ideas, and new inner energy.

A new beginning, a new hope is not just a poetic concept for me, but the silent truth that came to the rescue. The inspiration for writing this poem was simply to bring to light how we tend to think we're finished when in reality we're being rewritten. Not everything had to be right again; I just needed a small reason to pick myself up, and afterward, several reasons appeared. I'd like to remind whoever reads this poem that even in moments when life stops or falls apart, there's always something meaningful and beautiful waiting to sprout behind the scenes. You just need to find the light behind the wall.

Thank you for reading my post. I'm inviting @ninapenda, @abdullahw2, and @jyoti-thelight to participate in this contest.

This poem reminds me of so much. Just like they say, life is full of ups and downs and indeed it's only the one with hope that can see the end point. Life was never guaranteed to be rosy or fair and so I am encouraged to keep pushing and hoping!

Thank you for the mention!
