Incredible India monthly contest of October #1| Ego vs Self-confidence!
Hello, friends welcome to my post in which I have discussed "Ego vs Self-confidence!" as part of my participation in this contest organized by @meraindia
How do you glance towards these two words from your perspective? Explain!
From my understanding and how I have experienced life seeing how people act I can glance at these two words (Ego and Self-confidence) from my own perspective in the following ways:
Ego: is about been insecure self-importance and it always tries to prove worth. A person with an ego would always carry their shoulders up, feeling too big and proud, as if they are better than others. In simple words, the ego depends on comparison and validation, which means it rises and falls with praise or criticism.
Self-confidence: is about been secure self-awareness and it simply knows worth. A person with a self-confident mindset always believes that he or she is capable of doing something and has respect for others. Confidence stands firm and strong because it is built on inner trust and continuous effort.
How can we differentiate whether it's ego or self-confidence?
We can differentiate between its ando or self-confidence based on the situation that arises.
Situation | Ego | Self-confidence |
---|---|---|
When corrected | Argues defensively and feel attacked | Adjusts, learn and Listens |
When praised | Inflates self-image and feel too proud | Stays grounded, appreciates |
When others succeed | Feel threatened and bitter | Feels inspired and determine |
When falling | Denies fault or blames others | Grows and take responsibility |
Do you believe one we must reject and the other must enforce in our self-improvement? Which one and why?
If we must reject one and the other must enforce on our self-improvement then we should reject Ego and enforce self-confidence. By so doing, we should not hate the ego completely; instead, we should make the ego understand.
The ego is just like a noisy dog or an empty drum that makes the loudest noise. The ego protects the sense of worth, but often overreacts. The calm master is confident and knows when to act and when to stay still.
