Incredible india poetry contest | week 6 | topic :-Small moments of life

The night was quiet, the kitchen alive,
Two little voices, wide-eyed, full of drive.
“Mommy, let’s make ice cream, vanilla, please!”
In our small world, joy was this simple tease.

I stirred the custard, warm on the fire,
The scent of vanilla, a gentle choir.
They danced around me, barefoot and free,
Little hands tugging, “Mommy, let me see!”

We laughed, we spilled, we tasted, we beamed,
In those tiny moments, we truly dreamed.
Blending, waiting, tasting again,
They squealed with delight, pure, unfeigned.

The fridge hummed softly, the night grew deep,
But their excitement didn’t let them sleep.
And in their eyes, I saw the glow,
Of love, of life, of childhood’s flow.

Not just ice cream, it was more,
A memory carved, a heart’s encore.
The world paused still in that little space,
As I watched their joy light up the place.

💛 Why I Wrote This Poem 💛

I wrote this poem because small moments matter, and this night making ice cream with my kids reminded me of that truth. It wasn’t a birthday, or a holiday, or any “big event”, just a regular night. But their laughter, their little hands trying to help, the way the room filled with vanilla scent and joy, that moment is now a forever memory.

Sometimes we wait for grand gestures to feel love, to feel alive, but I’ve come to realise it’s the small, messy, sweet moments that shape our hearts.

This poem is a love letter to motherhood, to presence, to joy found in the simplest things, and to every mother who has stayed up late, not just to make ice cream, but to make memories.

I would like to invite @etoro, @kwinberry, and @ruthjoe to join this contest.
