They must suckle
Their sons for life
For this reason
They fight and tear
Young maidens to shreds
Though they were
Young maidens once

He is a man
A husband and father
Responsibilities to bear
Duties to perform
If you love him
Release him at once
Love always gives
And never enslaves

God loved His son
But gave Him to death
To have many more
When He rose from death
This is wisdom for sure

Release your son
You'll have a daughter
And grandchildren as well
Love gives
And never enslaves.

The Love of a mother for her dear son. Oh! how real that is. It is very real that she seems not to release him to a woman or a maiden, to be married when the time is ripe.
But that is not actually the case. The mother want to be sure that her suffering to bring up the male child is not in vain, that the maiden will know how to take care of him as she has been doing from infancy.

Stanza two, line six urges the Mum to release him at once, for he is a man that must take up responsibilities to perform his duties as a man in starting his own family.
But even if she release him to get married so that she will have another daughter( i.e the daughter-in-law) and other grandchildren, she will have tears of joy on the wedding day and a mix feelings.
This is what I have witnessed in many wedding ceremonies.

Strong emotion is always felt by a mother, thinking that the maiden(daughter-in-law) may take away her son, causing him not to remember the breast he suckled when he was a baby, by stopping to visit home.
Hence stanza four, and in line four and five tells the Mum that 'love gives and never enslaves'.
So because of emotional attachment, mothers should never enslave their male children by preventing them from getting married.
