If we begin a journey to the history of evolution, we'll realize something that is ever interesting. Do you know the human brain is one of the first brains that possesses a great value of intelligence and can undergo learning? This is where the basics of education comes into the human race. If we are to be precise, one will say that the presence of education prevents men from walking around like untamed animals.

Some people might not have the opportunity to be in the four corners of a classroom but will you call them fools? The accurate answer is No and here's why. Even if they are educated in a formal way, they receive education on how to live and strive in an informal way. This is the foundation of basic education in the formal setting.

My Understanding about Basic Education

Basic education is the type of education which is aimed at providing the basic learning needs of a child. Also it prepares the child for further studies. In a formal setting of education, it is also known as Early Childhood Education. In Nigeria, basic education spans from primary school to junior secondary school which ends at JSS3. If I consider informal educational settings, basic education can be taught to people of all ages.

What are the things that are supposed to be included in Basic Education?

In a child's life, basic education is really important but there are essential things that are supposed to be taught. But the sad reality is that they are omitted or purposely deleted from the system. In my opinion, here are some aspects that were supposed to be in the curriculum but it isn't.

  • Early Vocational awareness: As a growing child, the formal system especially in my country, Nigeria omits vocational awareness to the child. This is taken out so that theoretical works can be done. The truth is the early exposure would have given the child a sense of focus and reality equipment. The child would have been informed earlier and found his/her way instead of waiting for audio jobs.
  • Financial Literacy: As a child, we were told that we should go to school to know how to read and write. But when we advanced in educational status, that's when they told us again that we should graduate with excellent garde so that we can secure a job. My concern here is why didn't tell us earlier so that we can be financially literate. The thing is I won't have made financial mistakes I made in recent periods if I was told this truth then.

Do I believe that Basic Education plays a vital role in our growth?

Indeed, I believe that Basic Education plays an important role in the growth of an individual. Basic education is indeed like a fertilizer in the growth of an individual. First, let's consider ourselves as writers on the Steemit platform, how we would be able to write our blog without basic education? That's the first signal of growth which is the ability to read and write. Also, being able to communicate with your fellows is also a big flex thanks to basic education.

I invite @bossj23, @fortwis09 and @pandora2010 to this contest.
