The Manafort deal requires he cooperate “fully, truthfully, completely, and forthrightly” on “any and all matters” and does not appear to be limited to pre-Trump times. How long until Team Trump does a 180 and starts attacking a man they’ve had only high praise for?

Sort:

Not sure. Hard to say these days. I mean that entire investigation has gone far beyond what it was created for. Going after Manafort for things he did 15 years ago so they can put pressure on him and try to use him against Trump is ridiculous.

I've stopped trying to guess when it comes to Mueller. He has so many conflicts of interest (far more than Sessions did) with this investigation that technically he shouldn't have been the one directing the investigation anyway.

They goal posts on what they are looking for and reporting about has moved so many times that what they will do next is unpredictable. About the only thing I can accurately predict is that whatever they do next I'll likely consider ridiculous and I'll have a lot of personal contempt for it.

Mueller’s authorization is actually quite expansive:

Squeezing Manafort to move up the food chain makes perfect sense given that’s how mob bosses get taken down. That’s how Mueller nailed Gotti, why would this be any different?

Short of a Saturday Night Massacre, I don’t see Mueller stopping.

Sure he can ruin many people's lives just due to the expense of legal defense. All the while after something like 19 months they still haven't found any Russian Collusion OR Obstruction of Justice which is what the mission was supposed to be. They did find that $100K bot Russian stuff but that was equally applied to all candidates and wasn't propping up one versus the other. Also that is nothing compared to the current censorship in terms of Collusion.

He has damaged quite a number of people, spent a lot of money, and caused other people to have to spend a lot of money.

Though you are likely right. It likely won't stop until A) he finds something, or B) he is FORCED to stop. Though I can't say he'll stop with A either as he seems very much unaccountable to anyone.

We have no way to know that. In a city that leaks like a sieve, Mueller’s team has been basically leak-proof. They might have found all kinds of stuff that we just haven’t heard about yet.

he seems very much unaccountable to anyone.

He’s accountable to the Assistant Attorney General.

This is true. Yet, if they found the proof why wait and put the country through the divisiveness of waiting?

Maybe because they want to follow more leads and collect more evidence. Crossing t’s and dotting i’s. For instance, Mueller still hasn’t interviewed Trump even though Trump has several times said he’d just love to talk to Mueller. Rudy keeps trotting out that absurd “perjury trap” nonsense.

Rudy keeps trotting out that absurd “perjury trap” nonsense.

Actually it is not nonsense. It is a known tactic of the FBI. It is actually what they got Flynn on before all of this started. You said X back Y Months ago and now you are saying Z which contradicts X so you are lying. Could it be a lie? Yes. If it is intentional. If it is simply not remembering correctly then that isn't a lie. So playing games to get them to say things differently is a ENTRAPMENT.

Trump speaks a lot. Rudy also knows he doesn't tend to follow teleprompters and such. So will he avoid them using something trivial and then claiming it is perjury? I am now a lawyer, but even if I was Trump's lawyer or ANYONE else at this point in other cases due to this pattern of the FBI I'd tell people not to talk to them if there is any way they can avoid doing so. By everyone I am referring to people under any circumstances, even those that have nothing to do with this investigation.

People who are honest don’t need to worry about perjury. Perjury trap is a euphemism for my client will lie under oath. Trump could of course avoid the possibility of perjury simply by invoking the Fifth Amendment, which he has every right to do.

It’s entrapment? Fine then, let him be interviewed like any other suspect. If it really is entrapment, a judge can toss out the testimony.
