The prompt for #inktober day 10 is "sweep."

As I am not a proficient artist, I decided to ask Night Cafe to generate images for inktober.

For today's image I thought I would generate an image of a conductor sweeping dust next to a steam locomotive. Such an image segues into a discussion of the problem of STEEM dust.

When posts fail to reach the minimum $0.02 payment threshold the system sweeps away the payment as dust.

Steemit is an extremely frustrating platform for new users and small account as most of their posts fail to break the elusive $0.02.

So, I admit, I've wanted for years to buy enough STEEM POWER so that my vote value would exceed $0.02.

The problem, of course, is that one's vote value is determined by both one's SP and the price of STEEM. I did not want to borrow money to buy SP as I feared the price of STEEM would drop.

At the end of last month I took the plunge and started buying SP. I've been powering up a nice chunk of STEEM each day and brought my account total to 2868 SP.

Steem Block Explorer says that my upvote value is now worth over $0.01. This gives me enough SP to sweep the dust of accounts with over a penny in upvotes.

Sadly, the price of STEEM dropped as I prepared this post. It is entirely possible that I will find the value of my upvote falling below a penny tonight.

Anyway, at 2868 SP, I am half way to my goal of having enough SP so that my base upvote would be worth over the elusive two cents.

You know, life would be so much easier if STEEM would just increase in value. If STEEM would just pop to $0.20; then I would already be at my goal.

With 2868 SP, I am able to sweep the dust of posts with over a penny in upvotes; but I am not to the point where I can reliably sweep the dust of all worthy posts.
