So Jordan Peterson was giving a talk about IQ testing. This question came up and the “correct” answer was 3. Many people including myself went with 7.

So I discovered that both answers are correct depending on how you choose your answer.

3 is correct if you like even distribution so tgere are an equal number of everything in the whole square. Ie 3 side bar colour, 3 triangle colour, 3 vertical colour.

7 is correct if you like pattern recognition. 2 colour bars repeating per row in both up down and left right directions.

I am curious what that says about intelligence and problem solving for the groups who chose one way or the other.

Are there any other tests, like alternatives to the IQ test? Honestly, I love the IQ test. It’s just fun to take. Of course not every day, but like once in a while.

I also like sometimes to take a test like that, just to see what I’m capable of and how I can solve different puzzles. And I can even call it a kind of rest for me, when I just want to switch focus. An alternative could probably be the mensa practice test free. That one can be considered a way to prep for the real test. And in general, the mensa test is for those whose IQ is high enough. It’s a tough exam.
