I tried to major in finance and accounting while in college, but just couldn't force myself through it, so I chose entrepreneurship instead. Being a financial advisor is a great career choice as long as you enjoy what you do.
Just remember that people with low self-esteem often just need some support and reassurance, there's nothing necessarily wrong with them. I can see how it could be a turn off though, just try not to make them feel worse for having low self-esteem.
