Ci voleva un Re.
Uno dei discendenti di quelli che governavano un impero da fare invidia a quello di Roma.
Questo Re e' entrato nel parlamento della Repubblica italiana, parlamento infestato da fascisti vecchi e nuovi, da un presidente del Senato che si vanta di avere in casa il busto del duce, da una presidente del consiglio che piuttosto che dichiararsi antifascista si farebbe scorticare viva.

C'e' voluto il Re d'Inghilterra per ricordarci, a casa nostra, che la nostra Repubblica nasce dalla Resistenza e dall'Antifascismo.
Nasce da quei ragazzi che regalarono la loro vita perche' noi ne potessimo avere una migliore.
I Partigiani.

Il Re ha citato Paola Del Cin, staffetta Partigiana, paracadutata dietro alle linee nemiche 80 anni fa e che ancora vive.
"Domani saro' a Ravenna in qualita' di Re avro' il grande onore di commemorare l'ottantesimo anniversario della liberazione di quella provincia insieme al Presidente Mattarella".

Ci voleva un Re britannico, della perfida Albione, per ricordarci che in Italia c'e' stata una Liberazione.
Che tempi miseri stiamo vivendo...

IT TOOK A KING

It took a King.
One of the descendants of those who governed an empire that would rival that of Rome.
This King entered the parliament of the Italian Republic, a parliament infested by fascists old and new, by a president of the Senate who boasts of having a bust of the Duce at home, by a prime minister who would rather be flayed alive than declare herself anti-fascist.

It took the King of England to remind us, in our home, that our Republic was born from the Resistance and from Anti-Fascism.
It was born from those boys who gave their lives so that we could have a better one.
The Partisans.

The King cited Paola Del Cin, a Partisan courier, parachuted behind enemy lines 80 years ago and who is still alive.
"Tomorrow I will be in Ravenna as King and I will have the great honor of commemorating the eightieth anniversary of the liberation of that province together with President Mattarella".

It took a British King, from perfidious Albion, to remind us that in Italy there was a Liberation.
What miserable times we are living in...
