La domenica che e' trascorsa ci ha regalato, fra gli altri, 3 eventi sportivi importanti.
La nazionale di volley femminile dopo essere diventata campione olimpica e' anche campione del mondo.
Chiariamo che abbiamo una generazione fantastica e questo aiuta ma prima dell'avvento di Velasco c'erano enormi problemi con Blengini tanto che la Egonu era sul punto di mollare.
Con Velasco tutto si e' messo a posto, ha parlato chiaro, ha definito i ruoli e la squadra e' diventata una macchina da guerra.
Non so se Julio sia il miglior coach al mondo, sicuramente e' il miglior motivatore, lo dice la sua storia.

Alcaraz ha vinto gli U.S. open contro Sinner in 4 set.
Vittoria meritata, se tutti 2 giocano al massimo Alcaraz ha qualcosa in piu', almeno per ora.
L'impressione mia, magari sbagliata, e' che Sinner sia all'apice del rendimento mentre Alcaraz ha ancora margini visto il talento che si ritrova.
Poi, come dicono gli americani, il lavoro batte il talento se il talento non lavora.

Poi c'e stata l'eliminazione agli ottavi della nazionale italiana di basket agli europei contro la Slovenia.
Chiariamo subito che le repubbliche ex jugoslave nel basket sono una potenza, detto questo si poteva fare meglio, credo.
Pozzecco ha annunciato che lascia, visto il matto che era da giocatore non avrei mai detto che diventasse un coach di livello, di quale livello poi si parli lo lascio agli esperti di basket.
A volte gira bene, altre volte meno, lo sport e' cosi'.

This past Sunday brought us, among other things, three major sporting events.
The women's national volleyball team, after becoming Olympic champions, is also world champion.
Let's be clear: we have a fantastic generation, and that helps, but before Velasco's arrival, there were huge problems with Blengini, so much so that Egonu was on the verge of giving up.
With Velasco, everything fell into place; he spoke clearly, defined roles, and the team became a war machine.
I don't know if Julio is the best coach in the world, but he's certainly the best motivator; his history speaks for itself.

Alcaraz won the U.S. Open against Sinner in four sets.
A deserved victory; if both players play their best, Alcaraz has something extra, at least for now.
My impression, perhaps wrong, is that Sinner is at the peak of his performance, while Alcaraz still has room for improvement given his talent.
Then, as the Americans say, hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work.

Then came the Italian national basketball team's elimination in the round of 16 at the European Championships against Slovenia.
Let's be clear right away: the former Yugoslav republics are a powerhouse in basketball; that said, I think we could have done better.
Pozzecco has announced he's leaving. Given how crazy he was as a player, I never would have guessed he'd become a top-level coach. I'll leave the basketball experts to decide what level he's at.
Sometimes things go well, other times less so; that's just how sport is.
