Nei giorni scorsi, molto ben pagato, Francesco Totti si e' recato in Russia per pubblicizzare un sito di scommesse.
Apriti cielo.
Profeti del nulla, giornalai a gettone, opinionisti di sta' cippa, politici da operetta, tutti a criticarlo per essere andato in Russia.
Nessuno che dice nulla se Renzi prenda una barca di soldi dalla famiglia reale saudita (non esattamente un covo di educande) o che i politici israeliani, con le mani gocciolanti di sangue, si rechino in giro per il mondo incontrando anche i nostri di politici.
La mia posizione e' sempre stata chiara, per quello che vale.
Quando la politica mette mano allo sport sono sempre disastri, non soltanto qua' da noi ma anche a Cuba con i disastri che l'Inder ha combinato nei decenni.
Non solo Totti aveva tutto il diritto di andare a Mosca ma questa faccenda che gli atleti russi non possano partecipare alle olimpiadi o ai mondiali di ogni tipo di sport mi sembra una porcheria senza fine.
Cosa c'entrano gli sportivi con le malefatte, vere o presunte, dai loro governi?
Perche' gli sportivi israeliani possono, in base allo stesso concetto, andre ovunque e i russi no?
E' ora che lo sport torni ad essere libero dai laccioli della politica, se uno sportivo e' invitato in Russia o in ogni altro paese deve poterci andare senza sollevare inutili polemiche.
Ricordo che l'Italia del tennis di Panatta vinse la Coppa Davis in Cile mentre c'era il regime assassino di Pinochet e furono proprio i Comunisti italiani a dire che bisognava andare e vincere.
Quindi che i russi tornino al piu' presto a poter gareggiare ovunque e che tutti gli atleti possano viaggiare, ambasciatori dello sport, ovunque.

No one says anything if Renzi takes a boatload of money from the Saudi royal family (not exactly a nest of convents) or that Israeli politicians, with their hands dripping with blood, travel around the world meeting our politicians too.
My position has always been clear, for what it's worth.
When politics gets involved in sports it's always a disaster, not only here but also in Cuba with the disasters that Inder has caused over the decades.
Not only did Totti have every right to go to Moscow but this matter of Russian athletes not being able to participate in the Olympics or the World Cup of any kind of sport seems to me to be an endless mess.
What do athletes have to do with the misdeeds, real or presumed, of their governments?
Why can Israeli athletes, based on the same concept, go anywhere and Russians cannot?
It is time for sport to return to being free from the shackles of politics, if an athlete is invited to Russia or any other country he must be able to go there without raising unnecessary controversy.
I remember that Panatta's Italian tennis team won the Davis Cup in Chile while the murderous Pinochet regime was in power and it was the Italian Communists who said that they had to go and win.
So let the Russians return to being able to compete anywhere as soon as possible and let all athletes be able to travel, ambassadors of sport, everywhere.
