Esiste e si chiama idromele, o acqua di miele, è una bevanda alcolica con una concentrazione che varia dal 10% al 15% e si ottiene dalla fermentazione di una miscela di acqua e miele.

È considerata la prima bevanda alcolica consumata dall'uomo e si ritiene che sia il precursore della birra. In Europa, veniva prodotta e bevuta da Greci, Romani, Celti, Normanni, Sassoni e Vichinghi. Nelle Americhe, i Maya producevano un tipo di idromele chiamato "balché".
