OpenAI has rolled out a new feature for ChatGPT called Pulse. Think of it as a personal AI assistant that delivers daily updates based on your interests, so you start your day with the most relevant information.

What Pulse Actually Does

Until now, ChatGPT was reactive—you had to ask a question first. With Pulse, the AI takes the initiative. It learns from your chat history and feedback, then sends you personalized updates the next morning.

The updates appear as visual “cards” you can quickly scan. If something catches your eye, you can open it for more details. In OpenAI’s demo, users asked Pulse for local news, running trail suggestions, or Italian language tips. Crypto traders, on the other hand, could choose to get regular market news and price updates.

Why This Matters for Traders

Pulse arrives at a time when more retail investors are turning to AI for help with trading. A Finder survey in the UK found that 16% of investors already use AI for stock advice and 15% for crypto tips. Among Gen Z and Millennials, more than 60% said they rely on AI for personal finance help like budgeting or understanding credit scores.

But there’s a catch. AI suggestions can be hit or miss. In one Cointelegraph experiment, ChatGPT recommended putting money into Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana—but also into a failed memecoin called Little Pepe. Even OpenAI reminds users that its models shouldn’t be treated as professional financial advisors.

The Rise of Robo-Advisors

This trend has fueled the growth of the so-called robo-advisory market—companies that provide algorithm-driven investment suggestions. According to Research and Markets, the industry could grow from $61.7 billion in 2023 to nearly $471 billion by 2029.

More Than Just Finance

Pulse isn’t only for trading or finance. It can connect with Gmail and Google Calendar to create agendas, suggest restaurants when you’re traveling, or surface daily task reminders.

From Reactive to Proactive

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says the goal is to make ChatGPT more proactive and personalized. For now, Pulse is available to Pro subscribers, with plans to roll it out to Plus users in the future.
