Why Working Out at Home Works for Me

Anything about getting a fit body without going to the gym ever crossed your mind? I have. In truth, I opted to exercise at home so that i could avoid spending money and aggravation attempting to get myself up off my ass and down to the gym. Working out at home is not just less annoying but often more effective too. And the best part is, no fancy equipment is needed.

Benefits of skipping your gym time

Gym can offer good equipment but home workout has its own advantages. There’s no traffic, you’re not restricted to just one time slot, and it also saves money. And the best part is, you can start any time. Even just a few minutes when you wake up in the morning or watching TV at night will work.

My Home Workout Routine

Warm Up – Preparing the Body

Before getting to work, you have to warm up your body. I typically jog or do simple jumping jacks for a few minutes. This warms up the body, relaxes the muscles and helps set the tone for work.

Strength Training Without Equipment

There are many who believe that without lifting weights, there is no way their body can get strong. But really, your body weight is sufficient. I'm doing squats, lunges or planks. I began with fewer at first, but now I've been adding more. Here, arms, legs, core it all works together.

Cardio Exercises You Can Do in Your Room

For the body to be in condition, not only must strength of body increase but endurance as well. I do burpees or high knees inside. Performing these for a few minutes raises the heart rate and burns calories. You can also give it a try. It may hurt at first but will be enjoyable.

Stretching and Cool Down

I always stretch a little following exercising. That releases body tension, reduces pain and makes the mind lighter. I also lay on the floor, crossed arms and legs and simply focus on breathing. And it’s a form of relaxation too.

How to Maintain Your At Home Workout Routine

The chief difficulty in exercising at home is being consistent. I bailed many times at first. Then I thought, you know what it may be easier to start small. I began with the intention that I’d do 10 minutes a day. Over time I worked up to 20, 30 minutes. Or you might decide to do it at a certain time say, when you wake up in the morning or before going to bed at night.

More than Exercise –Diet, Rest and Balance

Exercise is not enough, We also need good food and sleep along with it. I eat what I cooked at home as often as I can, drink reasonable amount of water. I also sleep for 7-8 hours. Together they help keep our bodies strong.

Final Thoughts – You Can Get Fit Anywhere

Before I go, I do want to say one thing my workouts at home have dramatically changed. I don’t need to go to the gym anymore. My meditation app and the smoothie shop in my living room is my gym.
