FOR EVEN CHRIST DID NOT PLEASE HIMSELF

1 WE THEN WHO ARE STRONG OUGHT TO BEAR WITH THE SCRUPLES OF THE WEAK, AND NOT TO PLEASE OURSELVES.
2 LET EACH OF US PLEASE HIS NEIGHBOUR FOR HIS GOOD, LEADING TO EDIFICATION.
3 FOR EVEN CHRIST DID NOT PLEASE HIMSELF; but as it is written, “The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”
4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
5 Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,
6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Romans 15:1-6 (NKJV)

The above passage of the Scripture buttresses some of the things that are shared in some of our other teachings. Believers are to live to please God, Jesus Christ Who died for them (2 Corinthians 5:15).
It was reiterated here that even Jesus Christ did not come or live on the earth to please Himself (Romans 15:3). Who then did Jesus come to please? He came to please God the Father: "I [Jesus] CAN OF MYSELF DO NOTHING. AS I HEAR, I JUDGE; AND MY JUDGMENT IS RIGHTEOUS, BECAUSE I DO NOT SEEK MY OWN WILL BUT THE WILL OF THE FATHER WHO SENT ME" (John 5:30 NKJV).

"FOR I [Jesus] HAVE COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, NOT TO DO MY OWN WILL, BUT THE WILL OF HIM WHO SENT ME."
John 6:38 (NKJV)
READ: John 4:34; Philippians 2:5-8

The point being made is, Jesus Christ came to the earth to please God—do the Will of God the Father.
Thus, the believers also should live to please Christ Jesus, and pleasing Christ Jesus means pleasing God the Father.
Now, the praticality of pleasing God is to be considerate of others, fellow believers and bear with their scruples or failings or weaknesses and not to please the self alone (Romans 15:1,2).

If Jesus could die for us when we were yet sinners (Romans 5:6), bore or endured with our shortcomings, we should be able to do it for others: "BY THIS WE KNOW LOVE, BECAUSE HE [Jesus] LAID DOWN HIS LIFE FOR US. AND WE ALSO OUGHT TO LAY DOWN OUR LIVES FOR THE BRETHREN" (1 John 3:16 NKJV).

The point is, believers should please others for their good that It may lead to their edification (Romans 15:2).

Note:
Pleasing others does not mean you should not speak against or correct what wrong thing they are doing. Tell them the truth and show or express the love of God to them. Love is stern and It corrects the wrong thing done. Love does not condone sin! If as a parent, you see your son or daughter doing a wrong thing, you would want to scold or even spank him or her. If you scolded or spanked your child does that mean you hate your child, No. You corrected him or her because you love them. If they were other people's children you probably might not talk not to mention spanking, because you would not want to be misconstrued. But your own child, son or daughter whom you love, you definitely would want to correct If they did wrong (Hebrews 12:9,10).

Thus, bearing with the scruples or failings or weaknesses of others means you understand the struggle of the person and you want to stand with him or her to overcome it. It does not mean to overlook the wrong being done without correcting it and helping the person to overcome it.
