Steemit Challenge Season 27 Week 02 - Homemade Tomato and Basil Ketchup
Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. I am here with a very great homework for you, your herbalist. It is about making ketchup at home. People all over the world like to eat ketchup. Sometimes it is spread on slices, sometimes on bread, sometimes on shawarma, sometimes on burgers. I thought why not teach you how to make ketchup at home and also tell you its herbal benefits so that you can benefit from making herbal ketchup according to your health. So here I would like to thank the Steemit team who gave me this opportunity so that I can teach you about every kind of ketchup.

Note for Students
I have received messages from many friends on Discord and WhatsApp that they are facing problems due to olive oil because it is not available to everyone, so you can use butter or cooking oil instead. Considering the problems of friends, I have to add that you can easily prepare basil ketchup.
Let's Start

First, I took a kilo of tomatoes and washed them with fresh water to remove any dirt etc. on them so that I could use them to make basil ketchup.
To make this ketchup, I will need tomatoes, basil leaves, cinnamon, cloves, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, apple cider vinegar, Jaggery, red chili, black pepper, and salt. I have these things with me, you can see in the picture.I cut all the tomatoes into small pieces with the help of a knife.

I have arranged all the ingredients that are to be used in this ketchup in a tray. You can see the pictures step by step. I also washed the basil leaves with water to remove any dirt from them.

Now I put the chopped tomatoes in a pot and added half a cup of water to it and put it on a low flame for about five to six minutes. After keeping it on the fire for about seven to ten minutes, the tomatoes had boiled and become soft. Now they were completely ready, so I took the pot off the stove and covered it and kept it on one side to cool. Now it had cooled down enough and I put it in the jug of the juicer machine so that it could be ground and made fine. I pressed the button of the machine and after a while it was completely fine as you can see in the picture.
Now the next step was to filter it, so I filtered all the liquid and then washed the pot and put it back in so that the rest of the ingredients could be added to complete the process.

After filtering, I put the basil ketchup in a pot and added two tablespoons of olive oil to the pan and turned on a low flame. I added cinnamon and cloves and lightly fried them, then added the ketchup liquid to it.I had finely chopped the leaves and kept them in a small basket with me.

You can see in the picture how I am pouring olive oil into the pan and frying the cloves and cinnamon sticks.

Now I have put the ketchup liquid in this pot and now I have added black pepper powder, salt and red pepper powder to taste. In addition, I have added half a cup of apple cider vinegar and 150 grams of jaggery, which I have also cut into small pieces so that it dissolves quickly in it.Now I started cooking it on low heat. After a while, it started to thicken. Now it was ready. I stopped the fire and scattered chopped basil leaves on it and put a lid on it so that the effects of the basil leaves would enter the ketchup through the steam and we could get the desired benefits.

Now it had cooled down, I took the pot down and started filtering it. Now the cloves, cinnamon, red chili seeds, etc. and basil leaves had been filtered. Now the best basil tomato ketchup is ready. It is very tasty and delicious. You can see and taste it.This time I filtered it with the help of a mesh cloth so that it could be filtered easily, as you can see in the picture.
The basil tomato ketchup is now completely ready. I have put it in a bowl and put fresh basil leaves in the middle for beauty. It is really very delicious and tasty. My children have liked it very much and they have eaten it by putting it on slices. Today was a holiday from school, so they have also enjoyed this basil tomato ketchup.
