My new task, taking my neighbor's son Ubong-Abasi on evening lesson.

I had just came back from the market when my neighbor, Mr. Christopher, approached me with a concerned look on his face. "I need a favor" he said, "I've been worried about my son Ubong-Abasi's academic performance. Despite the expensive school he attends, his grades have been disappointing."

He paused, collecting his thoughts before continuing. "I was wondering if you could take him under your wing and provide evening lessons to boost his intellect. I've heard great things about your teaching skills as a professional teacher, and I believe you're the perfect person to help my son."

I was taken aback by the request, but I couldn't deny the desperation in Mr. Christopher's eyes. After some negotiation and agreement, I agreed to take on the task. We settled on Saturday, 21st June, as the starting date.

As I welcomed Ubong-Abasi into my home on Saturday evening, I noticed his curious gaze. He was a bright-eyed six-year-old, eager to learn. I began by teaching him to write the alphabet from A to Z. But I didn't just stop at writing; I also encouraged him to recite the letters offhand. His tiny hands moved swiftly across the black board, and his voice grew confident as he rattled off the letters.

Next, I introduced him to forming two-letter words. His face lit up with excitement as he sounded out the words, his pronunciation improving with each attempt. I beamed with pride, seeing the eagerness to learn radiating from him.

As the lesson progressed, I took him through a simple passage about Mother's activities. We read it together, and then I asked him questions based on the passage. His responses were hesitant at first, but with gentle prodding, he began to open up, sharing his thoughts and insights.

As the evening drew to a close, I felt a sense of satisfaction..Ubong-Abasi had made significant progress in just one lesson, and I was eager to see him grow and develop in the coming weeks. Mr. Christopher's concern had been palpable, but I am determined to help his son overcome his academic struggles.

As I walked Ubong-Abasi back to his house, the evening sun casting a warm glow over the neighborhood, I felt a sense of purpose. Taking on this new task had been a daunting prospect, but seeing the potential in this young boy had reignited my passion for teaching. I was ready to take on this challenge, and I was excited to see the impact I could make in Ubong-Abasi's life.
