The Dinner Night
When I received the e-mail, I didn't know how to feel.
Last month, I had decided to stop accepting invites to speak or perform at events until next year. I needed some me-time for my travels and personal engagements. So, when I received an invite to the dinner and a special request to sing during its opening, I didn't know how to feel.
The person in question is a very close friend and she wanted me to perform at the event. There would be high dignitaries and she felt that I was the best person for the task.
I thought of declining, especially since it came three days to the event. But she explained why it came late, which I understood perfectly.
The problem was that I didn't have any black dinner gown in my wardrobe. Doesn’t seem like something a corporate babe would experience, right? 😄
Anyways, I contacted my fashion stylist immediately, requesting that she get me a style and dress ready in less than 48 hours. That comes at an extra cost. But did I mind?
She came up with something simple but elegant.

We did the fitting the night before and I received my parcel that same night. My hairstylist had to stop by in the morning. And, gosh, the stress isn't something I'd put them through again.
Nonetheless, I had a beautiful performance. Meet some people I knew via social media and left after having a swell time.
Meanwhile, I have gone back to having my me-time. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the people we love. Don't you agreed? I'm glad that it was worth the effort.
