Looking at the amount of rust on the pole, you can tell this a really old sign! When was the last time you saw only a seven-digit telephone number posted - without an area code? I spotted these signs near the entrance Coles Creek Campground in Carlyle, IL.

The fields of corn in the background were being harvested by farmers that day, a telltale sign of Fall in the Midwest.

Nice capture Nina! You'd think someone or something (like a winter storm) would have taken this sign down by now! Thanks for the post!

Exactly! As many bad storms as we have in the area you'd think winds from a tornado would wipe it out. I think that's what happened to the sign that was on the other side this one! Appreciate your support - thank you! @brightongreg

Great image with the blue sky and golden rows of corn. Would be great to see some of the distinctive signs at the Boulder Cafe sometime Nina ~ If it's still there? 🦋

Thank you! @allyinspirit Aren't the contrasting colors stunning, Alison?! There used to be a sign hanging on the right - I vaguely recall it being about an alternate route to town and the distance. Memories...

They sure are Nina. Ah, now I see that there's space on the bar for a balancing sign.

Yes, memories are made of things like this ~ Not just the object but what they trigger in us about how were were at an age when they were often just a part of our everyday life. 🦋

Yes, definitely @allyinspirit the same way a song or aroma can take us back to a particular moment and memory in time!

Yeah its been there a while. I LOVE old stuff like that. I am in Michigan and its true the corn seemed to go from green to brown almost overnight! I live in the country so this means lots of combines on the roads for a while.

The greens, the browns, the barren trees...I wouldn't want to miss having the change of seasons for anything! @old-guy-photos
