RE: Yay! Ten Years on... Still going strong!
Although I have no kids, I know from all my friends who have kids, it is the most difficult to leave them behind, even for a minute. I know situation where the parents get into negative emotional situation because they feel having no time fro themselves or for each other and because of that the relationship may suffer. But even for them it is hard to leave their children behind to enjoy a day or weekend together. I really love to read from you, you both value your relationship much more important than the diamond ring, something very important for a long lasting and deep relationship. When the money is available, no issue at all to spend it though! I also like nice things! :)
You're right, when the kids are young, it's difficult to spend a prolonged period of time away from them. However it is important for me to nurture my relationship with my wife and my kids. It's easy to focus on the latter at the expense of the former. I struggle to get the right balance every day. It is great to treat your partner like the special person they are. Without the love for my wife there would be no kids! It's easy to forget that in the hustle of everyday life... but I try my best not to.
I can imagine finding the right balance is not that easy, kids can be quite demanding :) I suppose the balance also changes, since the needs of your children changes with age.
